New Product: CJ Motorsports Fuel Pump Hat
[BR]
CJ Motorsports Fuel Pump Hat, Nissan 370z Order Link: Click Here Shown as installed to factory fuel pump module (not included). Now available, a relatively simple new fuel system upgrade from CJ Motorsports has begun to ship. This billet aluminum top plate for the factory fuel pump module is intended to be a straight-forward replacement to the factory plastic top plate. This product is a stand-alone upgrade, adaptable to any 370z fuel system that still has the factory fuel pump module. Using our stock-type installation kit, this can be added to an otherwise entirely unmodified vehicle, one with a simple fuel pump upgrade, or one with the CJM Road Race Pump. Add it to return fuel system equipped vehicles with other available installation kits, or build your own custom installation. Why would you want this? Aside from looking pretty in a place that nobody will ever see it (once installed), there are some good reasons you might be interested. RIGIDITY: The factory plastic top hat is soft and deforms and has begun to start entirely failing on people. Through use, they first develop "the lean", and eventually they just let go. When this happens it is anyone's guess if your Z will run or not, as the lower section of the fuel pump module is hanging off its wires in your fuel tank. Nissan wont sell you just the top plate, so you have to either spend big bucks to replace the entire fuel pump module, or find a used one with unknown lifespan remaining. Some failure links: Link 1 Link 2 Link 3 Link 4 Our aluminum design accepts the factory stainless support rods and supports them inside sturdy aluminum stands. The support rod bores are stepped diameter to secure the rods from any lateral movement by bracing them, not only where they exit the stands, but in the deepest portion of the bore. Stainless wedge-type set screws come in at 45 degrees to lock the support rods in place. The tip of the set screws locks up to rods just under a ledge point, ensuring they cannot pull out. See the assembled CAD cutaway below: 6-Position Electrical Bulkhead & Ground Stud: The factory connector is 5 positions, and that is all most people will need. But if you have an upgraded fuel pump, the factory wiring is not cut-out for the job. Even with upgraded wiring and/or relays, your 5-position connector has tiny terminals intended for tiny wires. What you are looking at here is the charred and brittle plastic surrounding the fuel pump power wire on the factory top plate. It isn't the best photo, but notice how part of the plastic became brittle enough to just chip away. This is an example of how the small factory terminals just are not intended for the current draw of upgraded fuel pumps. Our connector system was OEM engineered for greater current and the terminals support 12 and 10AWG wiring. The 6-position connector system consists of a bulkhead (sealed to the billet plate with a Viton o-ring), and internal and external disconnects. For most installs, you will only use 5 of the 6 available positions. But we wanted this product to accommodate custom projects too. With a left over position in the connector, and the integrated ground stud, you can easily provide power and ground for an auxiliary fuel pump project. VERSATILITY: With 3x 6AN bulkhead openings, this top plate can accommodate just about any fuel system configuration. We offer an installation kit for stock fuel system vehicles, as well as an installation kit for integration with our latest return fuel systems. More installation kits will be coming, or can be assembled on request for your fuel system. Shown with Stock-Type Installation Kit added. Factory stainless rods not included. MADE IN THE USA Installation details are coming. Photos of the process have been taken and will be put into a PDF. SOME ELECTRICAL AND WIRING EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED. To install this product will involve removing the factory fuel pump connector, crimping new terminals to the wires, and adding the terminals to the connectors. This is not terribly difficult, but I understand that some people just do not get along with wiring. HEAT GUN or a good hair dryer are required to install the convoluted PTFE hose. If you have any questions, please feel free to post them. I would like to address anything I am forgetting! Thanks!

Got mine installed with the RRP. Took a bit of creative thinking between phone and myself but we made it work. Shouldn't be an issue for future RRP installs and a stock pump replacement will be cake. Excellent product and happy to the last piece to a bullet proof fuel system for the track.

Yes it definitely would be. If you happen to have a photograph of your fuel pump module after the AAM Stage 1 return conversion, it would help me verify that I send you a compatible installation kit. But I am about 99% sure I already know which combination of installation hardware you would need for that.

Thanks! Everything is just parts now; starting a new TT/built block setup . My fuel gauge has already failed (always reads half full) and I'm not sure if it's the pump assembly sending unit or the #2 sending unit. I should find out once shop begins the work, and I'll send a photo when they get to the tank. |

The install kit for that would be almost identical to L2 kit, except it just hooks up a little differently. I also need to add the install kits for return systems with RRP. There are so many combinations that will have a small change! But I know now what needs to be done for each, I just have to get the all the options into the drop down menu. I can put one together for you later today? If youd like PM or email me and I can get it squared away ASAP. Thanks |

Does running large concentrations of ethanol in fuel cause the stock fuel pump hat to fail sooner?
