Stripped Differential Nut
Quick question - When i was installing aftermarket whiteline bushings, I accidentally stripped the nut that mounts the rear differential to the rear subframe (this is the nut that sandwiches the cross-member bushing to the rear differential cover)
I'm getting ready to pop the old nut out using a 17mm bolt extractor, but what i'm curious is what the OEM nut part number is? I've looked at multiple websites and can't find it, just the stud that it mounts to. is this something i should just go buy at the hardware store? thanks in advance!! |
You could at Sears or HD. Take it or another 17 and match the threads up.

Just measure the dia of the stud and count the threads over 10mm distance. You should be able to match it up to a nut on this website. Try to get the highest grade nut they have, 10.9 if possible. Should be under a buck.
Probably a M10 or a M12. Be aware that they do come in multiple pitches so get the right one or one of each. Hard to Find Metric Fasteners and Metric Screws with No Minimums |
