I'm not getting why they would say MAF placement or exhaust would effect the knock sensor. Knock sensor are simply piezoelectric and generate a voltage from vibration (a knock won't have a smooth running condition). As for the lab scope you can pick up snap on vantage on eBay for dirt cheap now and they work great and are bullet proof, however I don't know if it will help you much because if I remember correctly there will always be some activity on the knock sensor it is up to the PCM programming to determine what is the knock threshold. You would be better with a scan tool and it should give you a knock sensor 1 and knock sensor 2 data.

Huh? I went and took it to the mechanic buddy of mine yesterday, He ran the Nissan computer and looked for any codes and could not find one, then then took a scope and looked at the harness and knock sensors, according to him everything looked just fine. He's going to order me a new knock sensor and remove both sensors that are on the car if run some type of conduction test on them to see if one of them are bad. he also checked for my power steering pump to see if it could have had something to do with the noise the sensors are picking up. He also checked my injectors and found nothing.. Also checked the car to see if it was indeed knocking and sure enough it was not... Sooo my quest continues...

Sounds like a broken wire in the wiring harness. The insulation will be fine with no visible damage. I have fixed several on Nissan products. Tech will need the Nissan Consult, start jiggling the wiring harness while watching the Consult.

I would check the sensor visually first, They are under the intake manifold so you have to pull it off. I was having HUGE KR issues with mine while I was tuning with Seb, we just figured it out that is was noise, not true KR. ECUTEK can adjust the KR sensor if its picking up noise. I would contact him for sure .

They took a scope and looked at the sensors, everything looked fine, and John contacted uprev and they stated that the tune has nothing to do with the knock sensors.

That's because is UPREV, they can not control the KR sensitivity. ECUTEK can tho, I guess to late to switch :/.

No, John @z1 told me I could come back and he would swap me over to ECUTEK but once I made that switch, I would be stuck with it... And its not a guarantee that would fix it...

A buddy of mine at work has a Gran Prix and his gauge is showing a knock on a particular cylinder consistently. When the computer senses this knock, it retards the timing and the car runs rough. It turned out to be a loose motor mount, and his header was hitting something causing the knock sensor to "believe" that this cylinder was misfiring.

The sensor cannot determine if the noise is from an actual "knock" or an external noise so there may not be anything wrong with the sensor. May not be the problem here, but something to consider...

I'd make the switch if he's not charging for it. If he can't resolve the KR issue" Listening with head phones while tuning" and see it's not real KR and adjust the sensor , I contact Seb. Just IMO tho

Very true. Had a customer Acura MDX one time that would start and stall/stumble repeatedly. Front mount so worn that the whole engine would rock and then slam down and the vibration would set the knock off and retard timing just as the engine is starting.
