I use a bunch of gas additives but all octane boosters are B-b-b-b-bullshít!!!
There's no way 1 pint of anything will increase 20 gallons of gas's octane. (People say Torco is the only one that works, maybe, I doubt it though)

lucas sponsored me many years ago with my camaro, and i used to swear by their product... Ive always had great results with their octane booster..... placebo effect or not, my ls1 always ran GREAT.. Was thinking about adding it to my 370z for the reason of .... "CAUSE I CAN" will it hurt anything with the fuel system in these cars?

As per DEpointfive0, "no way 1 pint of anything will increase 20 gallons of gas's octane." Read the fine print on the bottle. Octane boosters just don't do very much.
Naptha and/or diesel/kerosene seem to be the main ingredients (per MSDSs). From the 104+ web site: "Can I use a lower grade of fuel than is recommended by the manufacturer and add 104+® Octane Boost products to make it a higher grade? No, we recommend that you follow the fuel grade suggestion in your vehicle’s owner’s manual."

Octane boosters have no real effect on fuel octane unless you use numerous bottles. In this case, the effect would still be minimal. Keep in mind that "octane points" translate to tenths of "(R+M)/2" octane.
There are also certain amounts used to calculate this, such as "adds 7 octane points to 5 gallons of fuel." This will make 5 gallons of 89 octane into 89.7 octane, assuming a perfect, optimistic blend. I feel this is still over what its effective octane would be. You'd have a better experience adding toluene alone to your fuel. Last edited by Silverstone; 06-27-2016 at 12:26 AM. |

If you want higher octane, buy race fuel!

This. Manufacturers are counting on people not knowing what "points" are.

I was a sceptic at first when I heard about the Race Gas concentrate product until I started doing tuning with Seb from Specialty Z and got his opinion about it. He told me he has heard good things bout the product. So to test it during my tuning sessions I did a tuning session with 5 gallons of VP MS109 (100 Octane Race Gas) and did a second tuning session with 5 gallons of 91 pump gas mixed with the Race-Gas product using the measurement on the site to get 103 with 91 pump gas and the results were identical. No signs of detonation with advance timing, fuel concentrate mix has the same scent/odor of pure race gas.
Financially the Race-Gas concentrate is the best bang for ur buck @ $40 a can locally u can turn almost 6 gallons of 91 pump gas into 103 octane race gas grade fuel. 5 gallons of VP Racing MS109 costs $120 here. Both are just as good and have given me great results at the track.

I will definitely have to look into Race Gas if Seb recommends it...I typically run 101 race gas at the track *except* for Auto Club Speedway, where it's practically impossible to get anything aside from 91. Last time I was there, I used several bottles of octane booster, but was still suffering frequent detonation.
