switching CAI and need your input please
I bought my Z with what looks to be a K&N typhoon type intake on it (But it is obviously a ebay type knock off) and being that i live 5 minutes from Z1, was thinking about purchasing their Z! branded CAI setup. Will there actually be a "Seat in the pants" difference you think by switching out an intake that sucks air from the engine bay, to one that sucks air from behind the bumper??? Also, be it known that i actually HAVE TO switch air intakes as my dual canister oil catch can setup just came in, and with my current intake tubes on this k&n knock off set are in the way and need a Stillen / Z1 type CAI for these cans to mount correctly. So ill be doing a Z1 air intake, dual oil catch can install, then a finally a Dyno tune @ Z1.... Might i feel a slight power difference?? Thanks

Not a Z but close enough.....When I had my G37 , I had every bolt on with the exception of headers (To include PST Carbon driveshaft). The ONLY mod I felt any significant change with was when I swapped pumpkins with a 6MT. Everything else by comparison was more likely mentally based on how much I spent. When I bought my Nismo, I added a Takeda Long Tube, HFC's and an MXP exhaust just to bide time til boost. Even with mild tuning there was'nt so much difference outside of sound and response. Not saying you won't feel anything but don't expect it to feel like a 25 shot hit.

I have the Stillen Gen III intake and I don't feel much of a difference. Honestly, you'll more than likely feel less of an improvement with the Z1 intake. Drivers don't really feel the effects of breathing mods until the cars are up to speed. Even then, unless it's really windy, chances are, not enough air will get sucked into your true CAI (located behind the front bumper and in front of your radiator) to really make a difference. The bottom line is, the 370Z's OEM intake system is efficient enough for a majority of the drivers. The Z1 intake looks great though.

I had Injen SRI with an exhaust (motordyne & Indivia at different times) and then changed to the stillen gen 3 intake and didnt notice any difference. i dyno'd both set ups and they were the same within 5hp.
breather mods in general will give a lil bump up for butt dyno, but you wont notice a big difference between X and Y intake/exuats/cats/test pipes/headers to justify the price.

Not sure if your current setup moved your MAFS or not; usually requires a tune if they are....I bolted on CAI,TP's & free flowing exhaust, all at the same time....and the Dyno Tune gained the same power as the bolt on's did from stock....roughly 20rwhp & another 20rwhp after the tune...also I do have the Z1 CAI & tuned by Jon@Z1
