Oil Cooler and Radiator Upgrade Question
So my Z is my daily driver (no tracking/AX/or anything) and I live in Houston, TX. Summers are hot here -- many 100+ degrees days, and I don't even want to know what the ambient temps are on the freeways between the concrete and bumper to bumper vehicles.
This has me examining having a oil cooler and upgraded radiator installed. As even driving home yesterday it was about 87 out and my oil temp was over 200 and under 220 the whole time. Would like input as do doing a 25 or 34 row oil cooler plus the CSF Triple Pass radiator (I have the manual so can do the triple pass model)?? Appreciate your time and input... |
200-220 is fine as far as oil temps go. If you're higher than that, look into an oil cooler. The radiator probably isn't necessary for a car with bolt ons only. Your money would be better spent on getting a tune so the fans can come on earlier. Between that and running a lower mix of coolant to water, you should be just fine.
That being said, the radiator is a great piece, but it's an annoying install since you have to vent and refill the AC system. Also, if you get the radiator, replace the drain plugs and washers with something more durable or you will be in a world of hurt. |
