Question on oil cooler install.

Hi gang.

I was wondering if anyone knew whether or not it would be possible to install an oil cooler without taking the front bumper off and just doing the install from the bottom of the car when you remove the undertray.

I doubt it (cant say forsure)

Buy can I ask why?? the bumper is extremely easy to get off.

Hey TerribleOne - So I am running an aftermarket bumper and the fitment is perfect.

As a result I am a little hesitant to treat it like I did my OEM as I am concerned that if I keep taking it on and off I will gradually end up with it not fitting as well as it currently does.

So my preference is to not mess with it if I can get around it. I was able to install an Injen CAI without taking it off so it also made me realize I should consider all options for installs.

I have easier access to a lift than I used to and also makes it less of a hassle to get under the car.

Are you able to access and remove the CAI filters for cleaning without removing the bumper?

That seem a bit impossible to me, If he had g3's how would you get to the band to loosen up the filter?

Hey Jar. Yes I can access the filters. Keep in mind the position of the Injen filters is the same as the AEM ones.

So all you have to do is remove the wheels and peel back the fender liner. Also accessible via removing the under tray.

Obviously not possible if I had Stillen G3s or comparable CAI.

i've taken off my bumper a bunch of times for oil changes/filter change/installs and it goes right back on with the same fitment it had prior.

i think you'll be fine unless you're that anal that a 1/2 a MM differnece in bumper to fender gap sets you off.

just take it off and do the work you'll be ok lol

OP, what size oil cooler you installing? If you're installing a 34 row cooler. Think you would be better off removing the bumper to do it right.

Hey Rusty. I am looking at the Z1 25 row right now.

I have reviewed the instructions and thought it might be possible to mount it from underneath the problem is drilling holes for the bracket.

Was also looking at the AAM R-Line but makes me wonder how effect that would be compared to the traditional air cooled. The only benefit to me is added flexibility in installation location.

G3 wasn't an option for me because I have Arising II front and apparently the "nostrils" might push back on the G3 filter location.

Not trying to be an poop head but your making this super complected for nothing. Take bumper off. Put cooler on, put bumper back on. Done.

$849.00, for that. No! Since you're in Texas. I would go with a 34 row and call it a day. What I would do is wait until I need to do a bunch of maintenance. Pull the front bumper. Do what I needed to do, and install the cooler at that time.
