Short Throw Shifter and Syncro Rev Match

Mod, I don't see the shift boot for Z34 available on RedlineGoods. Is it the same as Z33? I assume you've worked something out with them, seeing how you have

Bringing this back from the dead. I bought a B&M short shifter.

I wanted to know the logic of short throw and transmission damage. This is a good explanation: According to rsgear.com:

"However the driver needs to understand that the time it takes to shift is predicated on how fast the synchronizer can complete the shift without gear clash. When you shorten the throw of the shifter it is possible for the driver to be moving the stick faster than the clutch can fully release, and before the synchronizer can complete the function of matching the input shaft speed to the output shaft speed. This results in grinding or blocked out shifts as the timing has been altered for the function of the components."

It's a great article, worth a read. Based on that, I will probably return mine and put the money towards a more worthwhile mod.

I'd say you're overreacting. I've had the TWM short shifter installed since 2015 and now the Coolerworx and the SRM has yet to have an issue keeping up.

Agreed, I installed a TWM short shifter almost 5 years ago and no issues even with driving it at the track for the past three years. I too have switch to the Coolerworx short shifter and will be tracking the car this weekend...I can't wait!

Why did you both choose TWM over B&M, etc?

Consensus on the forum was that TWM was better at the time I bought mine. I believe there is an old thread comparing the two shifters.

Same. TWM used to be the best option available

What it boiling down to is that you have a slow left foot and should be driving an auto in the article.

I've been using the TWM for years with no issues.
