Car won't start. Please help

Hey guys, didn't drive my car since Friday and went to start it this morning for work and it wouldn't turn over. Thought it was the battery so I got it jumped and it started. Let it run for about 10min hoping the alternator would charge it. Shut it off, went to restart it and it wouldn't turn over again. Doesn't even turn on without the keys in the fob slot. Put them in and it will turn on and dash lights work but makes a repetitive clicking nose when I try to start it.

Please note, i did have the ignition lock recall replaced about 6 months ago and the last few weeks it was having a hard time turning over but then would Atleast start after some struggle. Battery gauge shows that the battery has plenty of life in it, so I wanted to run it by here before I go out and spend a bunch of money on a new battery. I read through a lot of the previous battery posts and didn't find any help. Also, the last time I tried to start it there was a clicking noise in the driver side door and I noticed my window was slowly rolling down so now it's stuck about a 1/4 way down, in the rain.

Sure sounds to me like your battery is dead. If you can jump it, but can't start without a jump that is pretty definitive. Just because the voltage looks healthy at rest doesn't mean a ton... It probably nose dives under load.

Did you mean to post this in the FI subforum?

Based on his 2 posts, I would say no

If I recall correctly, the FOB slot is for emergency purpose when battery is dying. if the key is not on slot and the car wont start, but able to start the car when you place the key on the slot means the battery is dying.

Your battery is dead. The meter on the dash only shows voltage when the car is running. You are getting an erroneous reading due to the alternator assisting the battery while on.

Take your battery to an auto parts store and have them load test it. I would bring money for a replacement battery if I were you......

I have to agree. A poor battery can show near 12 volts but if it cannot produce enough current then this is why the starter clicks rather than cranking the engine over. Depending on how you boosted it you may have a dirty negative terminal (if you hooked booster cable to engine metal which is safecway). Most likely failing battery or the alternator is having trouble charging battery due to dirty connection at battery or it too is failing. As was said earlier a battery load test will probably give you the answers.

Battery is toast. Time to upgrade to an AGM battery. :)

i agree with the battery. make sure you read on how to pull the battery and how to reset the windows once you install the new. good luck :)
