Rust coming from the rear axle? Axle area?
I've been noticing rust coming from the center of one of my rear wheels. It's the only wheel that's doing this. Any idea what it could be? Being under warranty, I'm wondering if I should take it in.

Take that middle cover off and you will see a pin bent over a big nut. That is where it connects to the axle. There is grease in there already. I would slop a little more grease on top of things in there and put the cap back on. I don't know if that is the right or wrong thing to do but that is what I would do.
ninja edit: dry out things in there somehow before you smear the grease in. Use a rag, air, let the hair dryer, let it sit int he sun or whatever before you grease. YzGyz |
Looks like you got some water into the space behind the center cap. I'd go with YzGyz's suggestion. Make sure to put some grease around where the center cap seals to keep water out.
