7AT Transmission Flush (Tracked Car)

Hey guys,

Googled some 7AT transmission flush advise however it seems to be more generalized than specific around tracking.

I know the 7AT transmission requires no maintenance based on the manual but I am sure that is different when tracking.

What are people opinions of Transmission fluid change intervals when tracking?
(I am a moderate track day guy, maybe 2-3 times a year)

Given this info I have heard and seen the following responses:

1. Every 30K miles
2. After a few events
3. Never

Obviously the safest answer is after an event or two but what is realistic for a casual track day guy... Don't mind spending the $250 Nissan charges but also don't want to throw away money... trying to find the right balance...

I've changed mine once a year and it looks nasty. Are you taking it to the dealer, why is it $250?

Well the actual quote was $236. Not sure why that's the quote, is that not normal? Yes, that is a dealership quote. I think you can only take it to the dealer in order for it to be done properly.

How often do you track your car for it to look nasty once a year?

Well mine is also supercharged but 5-6 times a year probably.

I just had Level 10 build mine to take 1000 hp and they didn't tell us to take it to the dealer.

Nice

The fluid change frequency is going to be determined by how much heat the trans fluid endures. It would be best to put a gauge & monitor the temps. The non-serviceable notion is http://www.uzitalk.com/forums/images/smilies/bull.gif. I wish someone would design a dipstick for our trans as it already has the port blocked off.

Hell no man, my car has been strapped to a dyno for 4 days and the dyno has been broke for last two days. We cant figure out why it's not reading AFR so we can't tune the P.O.S.

Damn these cars

I changed mine after 6 events and it looked pretty dirty. I did the differential fluid at the same time, that was worse -- granted it hadn't been changed in a year.

When we drained mine to send it to Level 10 it was black and full of clutch material.

Is this something we can do at home?
Is there special tools etc needed?
I prefer to do as much myself as possible, I don't have any confidence in my local stealership at all!

If you have a lift, the car has to be level and in the air running.
