Help with Zspeed Slave Cylinder
 

Looks like it's my turn to deal with the slave cylinder issue.

My slave cylinder went out last week. 2009 with 65,000 km (41,000 miles). After researching the issue on the forums I immediately ordered the Zspeed replacement.

My mechanic installed it today - unfortunately no matter how tight he tightens the bleeder screw, fluid is still leaking out. Has anyone ever has this problem? Is there an easy fix? Car is now stuck at the garage and I totally forgot it's Thanksgiving in the U.S. I'm not expecting to hear back from Zspeed until Monday so I've come to the good ol' forum seeking advice. I've attached a pic for reference.

I fear having to pay the labor to drop the transmission again *shudder*.

Just out of curiosity... How was the car behaving when it went out?

When I went to start my car, I pressed the clutch and it fell to the floor. Probably had an inch or two of play. Car started but I couldn't put the car into gear. I also checked the clutch reservoir and it was almost empty.

I had the added complication of being lowered and stuck in a small/tight underground garage where no tow truck could get me. :/

Ok... I'm having a very similar problem. Are you saying you physically couldn't put the car into gear or that you can, but the gears don't engage?

I couldn't physically put the car into gear - and trust me, I was putting a lot of force into it haha.

Dang... I have the exact opposite problem. I can put my car in 5th with the engine running and nothing will happen. No stall...nothing.

I recall a post a few months ago where an owner reported a similar problem with the bleeder screw. You may want to do a quick search. If I recall correctly, the owner intended to contact Joe at Z Speed … but then things went silent. Other than replacing the bleeder screw itself and/or wrapping the threads with some Teflon tape (or using some Permatex thread sealant), I'm not sure what else to suggest. I agree that it would be a complete PITA to have to drop the tyranny again just to replace the screw. There must be another solution.

Take the bleeder screw out and check the seating surface of the screw and the fitting as well. Look for an imperfect seating surface or a metal shaving that is preventing the seat from sealing. There must be something in there or one of the two are bad.

I agree. If the screw is bad, it can be replaced. If the seat is bad, you may be able to get away with the thread sealant.

you will need a new bleeder screw most likely. I remember a guy had that exact problem while back and he needed a new one.

Looks like it's a fellow canuck. Maybe it's the air up here haha. I've contacted him to see what became of his situation.

I just picked up a replacement screw from the distributor - we'll see how that goes as well as the thread sealant idea.

Get us the pic of the original one we discussed when you can. We are starting to think they are getting extremely over tightened which may be causing the issue as it can gall the seating surface of the bleeder, They only need to be "snug"
The other one with the issue looks to have been caused by this as well.

Sounds like you got it fixed with the new screw?

Just a quick update - the replacement bleeder screw did the trick. Clutch feels brand new.
