Default Weird Intermitten Engine Problem

2009, 102kmiles, twice now the engine runs up to 3500RPM or so then the power cuts out, then suddenly recovers once the RPM drops down to 1200RPM or so, almost as if the traction control system is having a hissy fit. The problem continues until the car is stopped, then restarted. Then the problem dissapears. This happened once some months ago, then again yesterday. I have not scanned for codes, so don't know if there are any. Anyone else have this weird problem, ideas?

Fuel quality issues, maybe low octane or water in fuel.

Nope, not low on fuel, good question. I'll keep an eye on it.
