Default 8 week old Nismo 370Z over-revving

As the title says have got my beautiful 370Z Nismo only 8 weeks ago brand new and well pleased with it but over the last couple of weeks when I start it up from cold (doesn't happen from warm) - it shoots up to 1500rpm and sticks there for about a minute before gradually falling to the 600rpm it should be.

Not a major problem apart from the fact if I drive off immediately then I don't need the accelerator as the car simply pulls me along until the revs drop down - I can drive half a mile without touching the throttle ! Its like driving a frisky horse that just wants to bolt !

The only way round it seems to be to accelerate PAST the 1500rpm and then brake - it then seems to behave normally.

Any ideas ? I know I'm going to have to take it in which is a ball ache as I'm pushed for time and on an 8 week old £40k car !

Cheers

Completely normal for a cold start. Its to get things warmed up a little faster. You should wait to start driving until the RPMs come down anyways.

Are you seriously telling me owning a 370Z involves sitting there like a lemon whilst your car drops revs (and everyone else has gone) and it has only started happening for the last 2 weeks - so looks like it wasn't functioning the FIRST 6 weeks ! ? The pull is very very noticable.

There was also no way it happened in my 2010 before this one

Your car would start and idle at 600rpms or so even when cold for the first few weeks??

EVERY car I have ever driven has a cold start mode and idles higher than normal for the first minute or so. Not sure what you mean by "everyone else is gone" are you trying to start your car up and race people right away?

every sports car I've ever owned has done this on a cold start. Hence the need to let it warm up !

Don't worry about it, it is normal.

Do this test: Start up the car and drive it for 5 minutes. Turn the car off. Turn it on again. Do you see the RPMs at 6-7 hundred now?

It's going through the cold start warmup process and is air intake and coolant temp dependent. Normal.

I have a 2011. It has been doing this for over 4 years and 70K miles now. It gets worse when the weather is cold

I just sit there and enjoy my exhaust while the car warms up, what's the big deal? it's only 2-3 minutes more of your time anyway.

If this is such a bother, add a remote starter and crank up the Z from afar.
