2014 370z Engine cuts off while driving, HELP!!!!

This has happened 3 times already. I would be driving and suddenly the engine dies and I have no power steering or gas. The e-brake light, CEL, and all the lights illuminate when this happens. I was luckily able to slowly pull to the side with no steering. I can restart the car and the lights go away; I was also able to drive home normally as well. What can be the problem????

Any chance it is after a hard right turn?

engstah 10-20-2015 09:33 PM

No, it was after a left turn, I was driving straight down the road when this happened. The other time it happened on a freeway. All times it was during a straightaway. Do you think it might be a bad fuel pump? My car only has 5200 miles

How much gas did you have? Fuel starvation is common.

Went to the dealership earlier today and they told me if I had any mods... They said it might be my testpipe but I never had any issues after getting my testpipe. I've had the test pipe for over half a year and this issue barely occured 2 weeks ago.

I have a full tank of gas. The first time it happened, I had only 3 dots. The second time on the freeway I had only 50-60 miles left.

Do you think it might be a bad fuel pump after starving the car for those 2 trips?

I'd say put your cats back on and see if your issues go away. If not, then take it to the dealer.

These cars will suffer fuel starvation if you take a long handed sweeping turn then go WOT while being low on gas. Something with how the fuel tanks are designed. Keep it above half a tank at least if you plan on spirited driving.

It's probably not your test pipes. But since your dealer is already telling you they think it is because of the test pipes, it's probably best for you to take off the pipes so they can't blame anything on that. Just make it easier for yourself.

Once you have the pipes off, then see if the problem comes back. If it doesn't, then your pipes were the issue. If it does, then you can take it back to the dealer with no hassles. Win - Win situation.

Buy/borrow/rent an OBD/CAN scanner and see if any error codes (DTCs) are showing up.

the last thing I did was have someone clear the CEL for service. The CEL due to testpipes has not clme back yet and I've driven over 200 miles. Is this a problem? It should be coming back...

The last thing I did was have someone delete the CEL for service due to test pipes. He said the CEL should come back after 200 miles but it hasnt come back yet... This was about 2 months ago now this issue occurred 2 weeks ago

my fuel pump failed, i had engine cut outs over 5k rpm, and then cut in....

Also if your tank driving distance is high like 400 miles on full tank, you might have a bad fuel pump.

If you're average miles per gallon is around 40, you might have a bad fuel pump.
