I know this really isn't a valid comparison to other dynos however. He picked up 54whp and nearly 30tq over stock. Most stock Zs baseline around 280whp on other dynos. Wouldn't it be something if this car is really putting down somewhere in the realm of 340whp.

So as Daelen mentioned, the day after it was finished I flew up to drive it back fromtheir shoo to Huntsville, AL. This happened over a two day stretch. I'm still trying to wrap my head around the changes, as I've done limited spirited driving with it mostly due to spending a majority of the trip in VA where the laws are not worth the risk of being pulled over.
So in no particular order, here's some rambling about the car so far. First thoughts after I made the first 3rd gear pull was how better the powerband is. I think Daelen and I both just laughed. The car is a different animal. Power comes on strong right before 3k and pulls solid up to 8k rpm. While it's never going to match FI power levels, it's a nice linear powerband that always has enough power on tap. The most noticeable thing cruising on the highway is how much more effective 6th gear is. Before this work, 6th in my car as just cruising flat land to save fuel. The car kinda lugged up hills and such. Not awful but not inspiring confidence. Post cam install you can actually use 6th to pass uphill with relative ease. Feels more like 5th. That trend flows down through the other gears. Everything feels faster. Sound wise, the idle has a slight choppiness to it but otherwise it's similar to what it sounded like before. I'll have some video soon. Overall I am super happy with the results, the quality of work, and the quality of parts used. SuckerPunch Motorsports really came through on the pump just in time and it allowed us to safely raise the limit. As soon as I get my pressure gauge installed I'll be doing some behavioral studies of it for everyone. It's been a long weekend, already a long week at work, and I'm trying to get the car ready for gridlife south so I apologize in advance if this quick review doesn't make a lot of sense. Ask questions and I'll be happy to answer them.

These are definitely on my list.
Along with heads and oil pump and what ever else my builder thinks is worth while to do while the engine is out..

Can't wait to see what these put down on a dynojet.

I'm taking this car to see Jon at Z1 for some pulls on their dyno. I need dyno jet sheets for classing next year and a local(ish) baseline for when I start tinkering with the intake side. There's more power in the car if I can get the airflow to it.

Wow, those new cams look awesome...I thought it was gonna be a while longer still...wish I had waited haha. So, safe-ish to say that its about 27 more whp and just 8 wtq less than the gen 1 cams?
By the way, I appreciate the help. I got a hold of Daelen, and he told me what was going on and what to do. So, thank you. |

Side by side of the two dynos in this thread:
C1 cams car had only a cat back and intake. 298hp and 227tq => 309.5hp and 258tq with cams, C1 C2 cams car had long tubes and a cat back plus an intake. 268whp and 219ftlb => 305whp and 241ftlb with cams, C2 So 11.5whp and 31tq (C1) vs. 37whp and 22tq (C2) You can see the C2 hold onto the torque much more at the end there giving it those nice HP gains at the end. And price is the same for either set, correct? Also, what are the specs on these new cams? They are not yet posted on JWT's website. For reference for anyone here is the C1 cam card:

Yeah, my car is running Z1 intakes (my set are 2.47" ID) and stock TBs and Manifolds. The tuner at MA has already told me I need to open up the intake side based on the data he logged.
I just got it back this week so I am evaluating how best to approach finding and solving the next hurdles. I know what head work I need to do, and I know TBs and Intake piping are the next hurdle anyway. Easy button is ITBs but I'm not taking the car off the street long enough to develop a stable setup just yet. I'll be evaluating options over the next couple weeks. Gridlife prep is in full swing now as I still have to hang and oil cooler, front splitter, and finish my brake duct system. Then it goes for corner balance and a spring change.

More feedback from the daily driving from the last few days.
-Finally got stopped at lunch today for "over accelerating up an entrance ramp." Cop wanted to know what sort of forced induction I had done to make it move that fast (Not the first time he's stopped me in town ) Explaining the recent work made him forget to write me a citation. -In town driving is still very smooth once you get used to the difference in power band. My twin plate clutch can be stubborn at times but the tuning has made it easier to deal with. Engine rev matches by heel toe or SRM really well. I'd venture a guess the engine is a slight bit more responsive but I still think the intake system is limiting the potential. My overall impression is this car is just plain fun now. I have yet to be waiting on power to arrive playing around by myself on the street. Really really eager to see what happens at Road Atlanta later this month. There were a few turns I just could not get out of fast enough and I think these cams will allow me to gain quite a bit of time in corner exit. If people are around North Alabama and want to see the car in person give me a shout. This is one of those seeing/feeling is believing things.
