Dealer replaced transmission. Question on shifter assbly

Hey guys,

Dealership replaced my transmission last Thursday. They gave it back to me with a scratched up shift knob which they said they ordered and I should come back to have them put it on. They said the car drives fine though. I did some reading up and it seems like this happens a lot when replacing the shift knob due to the amount of factory loctite that's used.

I also read that the shaft or linkage can be damaged if it's removed the wrong way. My question is, IF any damage would have occurred to these items, would it have been done to the old transmission shaft or linkage? Does the new tranny come with new shaft and linkage?

Also, any way to tell if these parts are messed up? Would it be immediately noticeable upon driving? Car shifts great

Thanks!

Why did they replace it?

5th gear was grinding.

Bump, anyone?

I'd be curious to know if the linkage and shaft are included with a new tranny as well

I want to say they are not included. I just want to know what the margin of error is when removing the shift knob and what driving impressions would be if the linkage was messed up during the removal
