New Z owner need help with maintenance

Hello everyone! Like the title says I just purchased a base 2013 370z.:driving:

So with that in mind there was 1 previous owner that I got no clue has done.

Seems like my fluids for power steering and brakes is low.
So my question is... And yes I've tried searching this forum for this answer to the best of my knowledge using Google (ex. Power steering fluid? The370z.com)

So I went to my local parts store (pep boys) and bought myself some Prestone power steering fluid and Dot 3 brake fluid. If I just simply add these to what I already have will I have any trouble?

I am not planning on running it like this as I will flush it
Out soon to redline and motul rbf 600. (I have 25k miles)

Another question after some spirited driving on a long lonely street out in my city I notice my steering wheel vibrates a lot when I brake. I'm assuming this has to do with my brakes and why my brake fluid is low. So I searched and decided to get stop tech slotted rotors and project MU spec brake pads.
I have the base model Z so I don't have akebono. Will I notice a difference from stock rotors and brake pads? I plan on changing my Brake fluid at this time with motul rbf 600.

Is there anything you guys recommend? please let me know and thanks in advance!!

Welcome and congrats on purchase.

How many miles you have on the Z? Vibration might be caused by a lot of things it could be your rotors need to be re-surfaced.

Other than that since you mentioned during spirited driving it must be the abs kicking in.

@ Zoren I have 25k miles on my car and is my daily driver.

Do you have any advice regarding the power steering fluid and brake fluid I mentioned? Thanks!

I think your fine for now just tapping up the brake fluid.

Since your at 25k mark have your brakes bleed and change to motul rbf 600.
Thats what I have now never had any issues at all.

With the power steering you can always tapp it with any ATF fluid. I used Castrol Dextron-VI at autozone.

At 30k miles change the transmission and differential fluid with Redline differential fluid.

Btw with changing your rotors to stop tech and brake pads is a good Idea.
I do have the stop tech and hawk brake pads works wonderful.

Just make sure the rotors are for non- sports Z.
Try searching Z1 website link I posted so you can choose what you need.

Having a stainless steel brake lines is also a good option since your going full brake upgrade.

I read on a thread that hawk brake pads eat your rotors up and since you personally have them do they? I was thinking the project MU brake pads?

Will any SS Brake line do the trick you think? I believe I saw stop tech ss lines.

So far my hawk pads are good, don't see any problem with my rotors. Project mu is equally good.

I use Z1 ss premium brake lines. No vibration with hard breaking.

I'll give those lines a try I guess hopefully they don't run too expensive.

Nice you got the sport package or did you upgrade from base?

Now that I've seen your rotors why is it everyone seems to cry and whine about not
Getting drilled and slotted rotors and say just go slotted?

Vvaldez92 08-01-2015 08:04 PM

I personally love the looks of drilled and slotted and if there's really no bad side then I'd definately go that route. To me it seems it helps to cool down the rotors faster if anything?

If you do not track your car often the slotted and drilled is good enough just for DD and some spirited driving.

The drilled rotors tends to crack on excessive track use. But I think you dont intend to do that much track time on your Z.

Mine is sports package. I slowly modded my car as Im the only bread winner in the family. I started with suspension and brakes upgrade before I went to interior and exterior upgrade. Here is a picture of my Z now.

Are those forgestar f14 rims??
Dude your ride looks sick! My ride is very much stock and as you I'm starting on brakes and then suspension. But taking care of some maintenance you cannot avoid that and go buying yourself upgrades haha.

What did you do for suspension?

Vvaldez92 08-01-2015 11:13 PM

You touched up that red on your car very nicely man. Was that a kit you bought it was that all creative thinking lol? That tow hook in the front nice. Dude I like your ride very much. I got the pearl white. And no joke want to get forge star f14 rims
