6MT guys, minor clutch pedal thump..
Hi guys,
I just wanted to ask those of you who own the 6MT 370Z if you feel a minor thump sound (little kick on your foot) when you are releasing the clutch and almost on the clutch's idle or normal position.. Is this normal or is it just me and I should get it checked..?? I have no issues engaging any of the gears.. Appreciate your comments, thanks!

i noticed that when im in 6th gear, and i lightly tap my accel, i can feel the stick actually move couple of millimeters further down. and this happens each time if i were to push down on the accelerator im not sure if thats the snychro sensor that is being transmitted (dont have that option installed). thought it was kind of a suprise....

From my experience, this is completely normal for any manual car. In every gear, the shifter will move ever so slightly if go from no throttle to some throttle and back. |

no thump/clunk unless its one of those scenarios where im slowing/braking and pushing the clutch in while in first (heavy traffic). but when i cruise in 6th, the shifter will shake itself forward and make a very very low ticking sound. ill bump it back a bit and it goes away...

That's because the shifter was connnected to the trans by cables. It was isolated from the engine and trans movement. In the 370 the shifter is directly attached to the trans and as the engine produces torque it moves because the motor and trans are moving on their mounts. This is perfectly normal

FWD cars don't exhibit that because the shift linkages are so long and are usually cables. The transmission linkage in the 370Z is very direct, which is why you feel the movement and vibration.
