There is such a thing as "too much" torque
 
Side-stepping the clutch with 5000rpm on the tach and 290mm wide slicks that are nice and hot results in this:

This off of your Z? And what shaft is that? Looks like you found a weak link.

This is what we call a "fuse in the drive train" with my off-road friends. :icon17: A piece designed to break before more $$$$ parts break. :eek:

I remember watching videos of Nitrouz's 420Z-TT. IIRC, the windshield would make some noise from the body frame wanting to twist.

This is an axle from my race car - 1972 British Sports Car with 540hp Rover V8 - photos also in my Gallery

This axle had done ~450 standing starts before it said "enough", so axles are now lifed @ 400 "race" starts before replacement.

IIRCs, Zs broke stock axles from hard launches even at stock power levels.

It's more about impact loading than just plain torque.
