Clutch got stuck, should I be worried?

you can just check the fluid to see if it is water or brake fluid.

Dot 4 fluid is a thicker fluid in general and seals better, but like other indicated, it is not going to stop the leak if there is one.

Had my pedal stick to the floor this morning also. Dealership is changing the fluid first. Sigh

As an update, the dealership ended up just replacing the fluid and it works great now. I realize this might just be a temporary fix but I had him triple check the CSC and he said there wasn't a leak at all and that he recommended at least trying to change the fluid, and I wasn't about to argue with the mechanic on something I don't know anything about. If it does fail again at any time I'll be sure to have the CSC replaced, but at least I know that I should be using the GTR fluid with how I drive my car.

I'm sorry but that mechanic is just feeding you bull$hit. The CSC is located inside the bell housing of the transmission and requires several hours of labor to remove the transmission and bell housing cover in order to visually inspect the CSC. So unless you paid him somewhere in the neighborhood of $700 to drop the transmission, there's no way he checked the CSC.

All he did was look at the transmission from below and note there was no fluid leaking out of the bell housing.

As long as you didn't pay them for something they didn't do it's not really a big deal. Plus, the CSC doesn't have to be noticeably leaking to cause problems anyway. Getting better fluid in the system is definitely a good thing. Just don't expect it to solve the problem.

Several others have done the same thing. If you dont have tow coverage insurance invest in it now...you'll need it pretty soon

Yeah my warranty covers towing, one of the reasons why I'm not too worried if the CSC fails and I need to replace it. Worrying about those damn flatbed tow trucks scratching my bumper is a different story...

After the fluid replacement failed, they determined that my CSC had failed. Nissan is not wanting to cover this under my power train warranty, and I have had to escalate the issue beyond the regional consumer affairs specialist. Anyone that has had it successfully replaced under power train have any tips?

Good luck talking to a consumer affairs specialist. I had to explain to them what a clutch master and slave (CSC) were.

On a related note, my CSC started to fail last week (I noticed the fluid level dropping quickly). No puddle under the car and no noodley pedal. Today I dropped the transmission at a friend's shop and threw in a Zspeed unit. Took about 3 hours total and now she's driving like a champ.

Except for those damn windows that don't want to reset now.
