Does VDC hinder acceleration?
From the explanation of VDC in the owner's manual, it sounds like if the system thinks your car is going to lose traction on the road, it will reduce power to the wheels to help prevent you from losing control.
Is it possible VDC can hinder acceleration by over-correcting in a situation where there may be no risk? Should VDC be turned off during aggresive (but still safe) driving? |

haha youre right, i turned vdc off the other day, and i was at those 4 way intersection coming out of a plaza, as usual i stepped on the acc but with some extra pep just to avoid some incoming cars coming from left and right and holy **** my rear right was spinning faster than my left and i started fishtailing from the start and i had to recompensate by swerving....
while all of this was happening, it still wasnt registering in my mind to let go of the dayam acc or break or ANYTHING, but instead i shift to 2nd and continue thinking everything will balance, but then again im going everywhere as im making my left, while my gf is screaming at me wtf am i doing.. haha. that was kinda embarassing. i could just imagine the car next to me saying the same thing..... i babied my beast for so long i didnt know she could do that hehe. I LOVE MY Z

Be warned, there are tons of posts from people crashing into things by goofing around with the VDC off. Just remember that your VDC is off and that it is pretty easy to swing the rear out on a turn.

EXACTLY why VDC is important. You either have the skills, or use the Nannies.... |

+1.
But I still keep VDC on most always. If you're smooth it won't ever interrupt you. No need for VDC to interrupt you on the street anyway, unless you're driving like a d-bag. You and Steve are right... there are a ton of people that get behind the wheel and have absolutely no clue wtf they are doing. That's why you see all of those kids getting killed speeding around in generic sedans because they have absolutely no idea of the general physics of driving... they assume that they'll be able to stick the corner ahead at 60 mph and end up writing it off.

I agree I haz de skillz... I went to a BIG parking lot of an abandoned shopping center and learned how to handle the car VDC off! LOL this car makes for some SICK burnouts hehehehe
Yes please be careful with VDC off like modshack put it you will have no "nannies" to save you. This car is extremely progressive when it steps out so use throttle control... a little goes a long way when the back end gets loose.

Or, you save the "skills" for areas where it's safe(r) to learn to use them with *this* car. I has skills, just not when it comes to this car in particular. It handles way different than anything I've had before it.

First thing I do is turn it off rain or shine.
So far no issues and the car is rock solid in the rain as well.
