Does VDC hinder acceleration?

i turned a simple right turn into a u-turn because i acted like a jackass with the VDC off, learned my lesson

I am so used to turning off the VDC that i forgot it was off. I was coming out of a turn(thank god i didn't do more than just tap the throttle)

I did a nice 180 on a 2 lane narrow road.Only 1 lane each side of the street.

The G gods were looking over me because i thought i was gonna wipe out bad.

could not have been going more than 25-30 tops.

I usually hammer it coming out of the turn in ds if its late, the road is like completly deserted road.
It will make your car faster in a drag, but always drive with it on otherwise.

I drove today for about an hour with VDC off. I tried pushing it just a little more than I normally do (still in break-in period..."pushing" to me is 4.5k rpm) and I couldn't get it to do anything abnormal.

Perhaps I'm still just babying it too much to lose any control. I'll mess with it more once get out of break-in.

:
.....There are a ton of people here who have said how intrusive the VDC is and that's why they turn it off...News flash for these guys...It's your driving that's the problem, NOT the VDC. If you're smooth it will never get in your way. Fast is not a problem either so that's not an excuse to turn it off.
Erratic inputs, treating the throttle like an On/Off switch, poor chassis set-up etc. will all trigger VDC. We've heard lots of those stories here and you'll hear the same in pretty much any car forum you visit. First practice "Smooth", then work on the "Fast". Combine the two, avoid the "stupid" threshold, and the VDC light will rarely, if ever, light up your Dash.....

I never turn it off cause it doesn't matter.....but then again I don't do any "Hey, watch this!" stunts (even though I do live in North Carolina...:-)

I have yet to turn my VDC off in the 3250 miles I've got so far. There are times when I make some quick shifts and I'll get shut down for a second, but I'm usually expecting it to happen in those cases. Although I've driven my *** off in cars with no VDC TCS or ABS, I still prefer to err on the side of caution and keep my VDC on most of the time.

I always leave it on, but it's not because I can't drive... I look at it like a seatbelt. I don't feel any need to prove my "mad skills" to anyone (I'm almost 40, so those days are long gone), so I'd rather have it there that one time I screw up than be responsible for killing myself or, even worse, someone else. If I ever decide to track it, then I'll turn it off.

That said, it's really not that intrusive if you know how to drive. I've seen it briefly flash during the shift from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd with the accelerator floored. That's it.

1-2, 2-3 shifts are easy to activate the VDC and lock the car down for a second or two. 3-4 is situational, but I've gotten the light to flash at me a couple times. Makes me feel more love for the Z.
