Oil Pressure Gauge Adapter (BSP & NPT)
I've spent a lil time researching the necessary parts to install an aftermarket Oil pressure gauge.
Note: This is not a DIY
The engine is BSPT, threaded. NOT BSP. See that "T" makes a big difference. Refer to the diagram below ==> Last edited by osbornsm; 06-22-2015 at 09:03 AM. |

Here be some results.
...and yes it dims with the gauge cluster.

The only place i found one available is here:
Oil Pressure Sensor Adapter, 1/8" BSPT - Engine - Autotech Motoring Don't forget it has 2 x 1/8 npt holes, so you'll have to plug one of them. ~ Sean

Just about to install an AEM oil pressure gauge. According to the install instructions, it appears the wiring from the gauge to the power supply is similar to the Defi gauge set-up. Based on a quick look, I've located circuits in the interior fuse box located on the driver's side wheel well for the switched and unswitched power that's needed (which I can link into using add-a-circuits). What I need to know is what wire can I tap into so that the gauge dims with the gauge cluster as yours does. Appreciate any help you can provide. Thanks!

I was only able to find a dimmer wire as part of the radio harness wiring. Luckily, one of the radio wires was tagged with "ILLUM" and i spliced into that one.

Reading old thread, thought it might be nice to bump it up for noob's.
And for reference, it stays below 100psi when the oil is 180F. Until then it's possible to get up to 110 psi, which is not the healthiest.

Can I find this adapter at the HW store? I was going to install my gauge this weekend but my sandwich plate doesn't have a port for the gauge. So I have to T the stock sensor.

And that's my second question. Any torque spec to this? I don't think I can thread it *all* the way in. In fact, it looks like if I tighten it to about 7-10Nm, I will probably hit the lower limit of the thread hole, so that I don't obstruct the oil pressure flow inside the adapter. I think that actually answers itself. Thank you! EDIT - Managed to google out the answer. Apparently the torque spec is with teflon added - from finger tight, another full turn or two. Careful not to overtighten. Last edited by filip00; 01-16-2023 at 08:37 AM. |
