Apologies for FB SNAFU
So Victorian Sports Car championship Round 4 has been run and the maiden event for the #50 ProdSports Z34 went to plan with an untroubled day. Times were not anything special (Keith Flanagan you lap times are not threatened yet). The mega wing is too draggy for a standard engine - I picked up 15kph on entry to T1 by taking 1-click of wing out and will try removing one more the next time at PI. The chassis is brilliant - T1 mid-corner improved to best of 187kph and it feels like it could take more and this is on 6 yo R-Specs. 1-click wing less made no difference to mid-corner grip and it felt like T1 could be close to flat - that's the level of confidence the chassis inspires. Brakes are similarly outstanding (AP six pots on the front on 14.25" rotors and 4-pots on the rear on 13" rotors with CIRCO pads. In the end, I was diving inside 75m into Honda and still it was stopping. T1 I was braking after turn in which is inside 50m and there was not a hint of slide mid-corner. Note that speed on entry is down though as it is draggy. No slicks until I have a dry-sump engine installed - planning on that for Island Magic event at the end of Nov this year so still significant grip to come . I am having to unlearn nearly 35 years of experience based on my "other" car as the Z handling and grip is just so superior. A bit more grunt and optimised drag and slicks will see the times drop. Off to the final round of our state championship on 15-17 Sept |
Good deal. Having fun with it now. I will be back at soon myself.

Great photo!!!!!
Cat looks and sounds mean! Glad to have been following along with this build. |
Some video clips of Quali last Saturday and link to the Streamed TV broadcast of the 30-lapper and 12-lap final race - both on Sunday. Our category starts at 2h 28m 50s for the 30-lapper and the 12-lapper starts at 5k 12m 42s
Quali in 2 clips from Saturday. My camera only records in 10 minute lumps because it is 4K – I need to set it up to record at 1080p so the files are not so large 1. https://youtu.be/i-ghHNxL830 2. https://youtu.be/9Rorkc5FHrM Sunday from the streaming broadcast https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7hXmdgmeXuM&t=11031s Sports cars are at 2h 28m 50s for the 30-lapper and the 12-lapper starts at 5k 12m 42s Plot being hatched to get the fat engine in the car for our last event in November |
So the final update ........
Stroker engine is in the car and has been run-in and tuned on the dyno. It made 390Nm torque at 8200 rpm on the most aggressive timing but we dialed it back a touch and settled on 370Nm at 8000rpm in the interests of reliability. All done on our hub dyno. It sounds angry (sorry - no sound bites yet). Have configured traction control into the Motec as I suspect we will need it. Testing traction control at Winton Raceway on 2nd Feb before first race meeting on 16-18 Feb as the first event of the season. Its only been 8 years since starting the journey but we are finally here. Assuming 12-15% parasitic losses thru trans and diff, I reckon we have around 490Hp at the crank. Pretty happy for an NA engine running 102 octane fuel |

390 Nm is 287 ft lbs. That seems low. I'm making 289 ft lbs with 334 Hp N/A at the back wheels.

Working on two things with my Emtron. Getting there. Glad you are enjoying your car. It will be a blast.
