CNC 7AT Flex Plate
Well, I have cracked the OEM flex plate twice already, once on track and once when doing average 100+mph on highway. I was trying to find a better one but nobody makes it except GTM which from what I can tell they only take the OEM one and do some heat treatment to it. I then went to the racing R&D department in my company and had them custom made one for me. Anyways, here're the pictures:

Wow -- sweet! Let us know how it performs!
Is it lighter/same weight/heavier? Are you boosted or N/A? If you don't mind me asking, what did it run you and what are the specs (cryotreated?)?

I had them made two, one for my full bolt-on NA track car and one for a TT 600whp G37S. The first thing I thought when I had it installed was: "Is my car on?" The 12000rpm dynamic balance really made a huge difference on the vibration. It feels like an electric car now besides my FI exhaust, lol. I had the team made the flex plate at 2/3 of the OEM weight so it is a bit lighter but at the same time won't lose the top speed. The material used was the highest spec in the SFI regulation for flex plate. To prevent rust and scratches the flex plates has chromium shading on it so it's a lot more durable than OEM ones as well.

I didn't dyno the before and after flex plate, but since there's a lot less vibration I assume it has less loss from engine. I was also 2 second faster on a 2 minute track this past weekend, so overall I'm pretty happy with it.

Wow -- that's pretty great! Congrats!
How much did this cost approximately...? I think this might be something others are interested in doing.

very nice work there.
What technique did you use to reverse engineer the factory part for proper alignment of the crank trigger wheel? CMM arm? It looks like the entire thing is 1 piece, starter ring and trigger wheel machined directly in? |

It took more than half a year to do all the research and design, and my car was down a couple times to test different version of the flex plate, so there's really no final price on it yet besides it'll be probably two to three times the OEM one cost. If there's enough interest I can set up a group buy or look into becoming a sponsor tho.

There's an engine getting the 4.1L upgrade at my friend's shop, so I had the team took all the measurements from that engine and my other transmission laying around. One piece CNC is more balanced than welding a couple pieces together and also much more stronger, so that was the reason even though it cost much more than OEM.

That car belongs to a good friend of mine, and I believe he has a GTM stage 3 built transmission on it.

I know he spent well over 100k in upgrade, but don't have the list for it. On top of my head he has GTM TT, GTM stage 3 trans, carbon brakes, full exhaust, a lot of cooling, every possible suspension mods, and a lot more that I don't know, lol

Andy, I hate you. You should've had like 10 made, I want one, and it would lower the cost considerably.
