1 step hotter spark plugs?!
 

Where I'm at we have 93 octane. I am going to get tuned next week and wanted to try running 1 step warmer Denso 3442 spark plugs instead of the OE denso 3457. I've heard a 24/8 spark plug (OEM best range) is too cold of a spark plug for a N/A engine. So I wanted to try running a 22/7 (denso 3442) plug instead. I don't want any detonation but I do race the car and am pretty rough on it. So I know that's a potential dangerous effect of going 1 step warmer. I have full bolt ons (test pipes, full cat back, pulleys, intake, etc) and I've heard 1 step warmer helps idle a little better and sparks better than a colder plug. Can anyone confirm that they're running 22/7 and haven't had any issues with detonation or pinging?! I don't wanna go colder because they're already cold enuff so I wanna stick with OEM 24/8 or go with 22/7 (1 step colder) thank you!

1 step warmer covers up engine problems.
Great if you want to sell your POS 1972 Honda motorcycle, bad for a car.

If your car has idle problems that warmer plugs will help... You need to get your car FIXED, not band aided.

My tuner told me normally go 1 step colder for nitrous applications or boost or roughly about for every 100hp go 1 step colder. So if I'm staying N/A "for now" lol should I just stick with Denso OE then? My tuner also said after the tune the car should idle and run a lot smoother/better.

Your cr is 11.1 and u only have access to 93 oct .. better stick with oem's specs.

UF man for bolt ons stay the same heat range. For 100 WHP you want to go 1 step colder not the other way :/

Sweet guys I saw 1-2 members when searching who have swapped over to 1 step warmer. But I was almost positive it's 1 step colder the more mods you add. Lol so I wanted to clarify that it'd be best to stick with OE and go 1 step colder if I go boost later. Thank you guys for the quick reply!

ull be fine after u clean ur TB, 4 ur idle.

Stay with the stock heat range plugs. If you go FI, then go colder. If you go warmer then stock on a 11-1 cr motor and you do some racing or hold the loud pedal down for any length of time. You'll turn the tops of the pistons into silly putty.
