Stage 3 clutch install

Just had a Stage 3 clutch installed , seems as my shift synchronization is off now when shifting into 5th and 6th and down from 6th to 5th... Seems like I have to root around to find the gear... Is that possible?
BTW.. somehow the install sliced my gear shift knob...
UPDATE:If anyone knows about how to dismantle the shifter knob , if done incorrectly can damage be done to the shifter shaft that possibly the damage could affect the shifting synchro??

Have you tried to change transmission oil from OEM to redline? I have done it and its a huge help.

Sounds like your installer was a dimwit. If they damaged your shift knob, make them replace it. When you say synchronization, is it inside the transmission? If so, try Redline as suggested. Or are you having trouble finding the gear with the shift knob? There is a block off plate for reverse that can be installed improperly, making 5th and 6th difficult or even impossible to engage. Also, the shifter assembly can be damaged if you don't secure it with a wrench when removing the shift knob. If it's messed up, you may have to replace it - I have one, so PM me if you end up needing it.

The shift knob doesn't have anything to do with the syncros in the transmission, all it is stick attached to a linkage that goes into the transmission housing, there is nothing to adjust. My guess is the hydraulic system needs to be bled out a couple more times. I'm thinking there is still a small amount of air in the system that isn't allowing the CSC to fully disengage the pressure plate, which is causing you to have to fight to mesh the gears in 5th and 6th.

You need to adjust your shifter guide plate, it limits the range of motions of your shifter. If you're having trouble finding the gate to get into 5th/6th the plate is not in the correct position. Joe@ZSpeed has a post with instructions I believe, but however I cannot find it.

The instructions can be found in the service manual and are crystal clear. For the 2010 Z, TM-24, step 6. Very DIY-able.
