Meh thats not sludge. Yeah cant say it was sludged up until you pull the valve cover and it looks like you just removed the top of a mold.had a buddy who opened up a 73 351w and there were little pockets in the sludge were the pushrods and rockers moved

Old VW air cooled motors and Quaker state oil was not a good combinition. :eek: The motors would slude the oil in about 3,000 miles. Pull the valve pan covers off, and you couldn't see any of the valve train. :eek: :icon14: :rofl2: Rebuilt a few of these back in the day. :shakes head:
