Full Freakin tank of bad gas

Yup it happened. Not a led off full and got about 5 miles or so and the car freaked out. Was fun siphoning out 14.5 gallons out the fuel pump

Yup it happened. Not a led off full and got about 5 miles or so and the car freaked out. Was fun siphoning out 14.5 gallons out the fuel pump access. Cleaned the fuel bowl since I had it out. Car runs fine since putting new gas in. Was throwing a P0300 code ever 1/8th mile if not less. Been driving for around 18 years and never had this happen once. First time for everything. I even once accidently didn't pay attention and put 87 in, babied it till it was empty again and the car didn't bat an eye, what ever this stuff was, no beuno. I wonder if there is a way to send it off to get tested.

Had that happen to me with my 1974 1/2 260z. It was a tank of water and hell to get rid of. Had to empty the tank and drain the fuel bowls on the carbs. Didn't know it until I had the carbs rebuilt and water poured out of the bows.

Wow, that is scary.

The other day I accidentally hit the 87 octane button because the crazy gas station I regular decided to swap out their pumps and the buttons are in reverse order now. I put about 2 gallons in before I noticed the price was much cheaper than expected and I immediately stopped pumping.

I have burned those 2 gallons off by now, and if nothing else, your story has given me comfort that I didn't just fsck up my engine So thanks for that

the knock sensors would compensate for the lower octane fuel by retarding the timing. Or you can always put in a bottle of octane booster.

Yeah, I'm lucky I didn't get diesel in hindsight. That costs about the same per-gallon as premium, but it's pretty hard to pump accidentally no matter how absent minded you are because the handle's green.

I'll definitely pay more attention in the future

I don't know about now,but the nozzle is also bigger on the diesel pump. Don't ask me how I know this!

Buy your gas in areas where there are nice neighborhoods, with more likely more premium cars that use premium gas and keep the gas fresh.

Very busy gas station, not somewhere in the sticks. The fill truck was not there filling the underground tanks, zero sediment in the tank. The stuff that came out looked and smelled just like what you expect. Like I said I pumped a full tank of 87 on accident years ago, samething that some mentioned, new stations installed and handles where flipped and the motor didn't bat an eye. This ****, the motor was freaking out just at idle.

Thought about octane booster, but I just wanted this crap out the tank if it was the source of the constant 0300. After giving it 87 on accident and the car ran fine, I wanted it out. I had to go shoulder deep to run the hose over the hump to get onto the drive side. Plus, if it was heavy sediment, would have known as soon as getting the pump out and shining a LED flash light into the tank, I would then have to clean the filter and bowl, so octane booster would not have worked in that case. I have 80k on this car which was another factor and peaking at the filter and bowl have been on my to do list.

Just something I found out, was wanting to siphon as much as I could from the fill port since the thing was not a dot off full and didn't want to spill gas in the car, but come to find out something is down there that wont let the hose go into the tank where the gas sits. Went in about a foot and half and stopped, guess some anti-gas stealing thing in there.

i did put 10 gallons of 87 octane mistakenly one day but had no issues so i guess i got lucky on that one
