2009 370z Losing Acceleration

Default 2009 370z Losing Acceleration

Good Evening All,

I need help from my Z brothers.

This is the situation. I have a MTY Blue 2009 370z, 6 speed Manual Transmission with 73k miles. I saw a few threads about similar problems, but with no resolutions.

What happens is that when I try to accelerate (assume I am on first gear) that Revs spike up to 3 or 4k, but the car barely even moves!

No matter how hard I rev the engine, the acceleration is not there. My rpm was at 3000 and the acceleration is at maybe 10 or 15 mph. Any idea?

I changed the transmission oil, changed oil, CSC is two years old, every fluid is fine, not check engine lights, or anything. Shifting maintains smooth, no clutch loss pressure.

Very Bizarre.

It means the clutch disk is worn and needs replacing.

The clutch is like a huge brake pad, but for transferring/engaging the power.
Once it's gone, your revs will run up, but you won't move

Labor cost is something you need to consider to ask. Maybe $500 to 700 just guessing. For parts you can upgrade to a southbend stage 2 street for $700 plus. Not really necessary if you do not want to upgrade.
Check Z1 or joe@Zspeed for good quality clutch parts.
For OEm specialty Z or courtesy nissan.

Yup. I think the dealer book value for clutch job labor is around 8 hours which is approximately $800. Parts aren't cheap either. Probably $700 or more depending on what setup you go with. Don't forget to replace the CSC (don't get another OEM one) and CMC at the same time. Otherwise, you'll just be dropping the transmission again down the road to fix the CSC.

I still have my stock clutch I'm selling. I think I have the CSC that was with it. It has less than 3K miles. $180+shipping

If RPMs won't go above ~3500, then the ECM thinks something is wrong and is throttling back the engine. Get an OBD scanner and check for DTCs.

If RPMs will go higher, it's probably the clutch.

Are you getting the bogging problem that some are getting? When engine oil temps are over 180. How often is this happening?

What made you think the spark plug is the problem?
If your spark plug you wil not have this problem. Your engine will soundblike its out of timing. Sputerring engine I would say

This recently just started happening after a trip to San Francisco, I believe the hills might have been too much for my car. Is it definitely not the oil temp. It is either the Clutch Slipping or I have spark plugs not working properly.

6. Lack of acceleration

If your vehicle is accelerating poorly it is fairly easy to tell. It feels as if the vehicle doesn’t want to respond when you put your foot down, or it does but not instantly as you’ve become accustomed to. It can also feel as if your vehicle is trying really hard to pull itself along. This ‘sluggishness’ can be easily fixed by having the vehicle serviced with a spark plug change.

This is the main symptom of my car
