The AMS that produces this shifter is Absolute Motor Specialties from Canada. Not the AMS renowned for the Time Attack EVO's and GT-Rs. They are two separate companies.

As for the question about the zip at the bottom, yes. That Zip tie is only on there for the purpose of shipping. The plastic washers and metal inner sleeve would simply fall out and float around in the packaging during shipping. Simply cut it off at the time of installation.

I just had this installed as well, it does vibrate alil bit, but I've noticed lately sometimes if I "gun it" in second I will hear an almost rattle type noise and when I went to the gas station the other day it was rattling my shift knob alil. I noticed the rubber boot kept coming up and I had to push it back down. It kinda feels like the stock shifter actually, or maybe I've gotten used to it. Also how do you raise/lower the ams shifter kit?

Ya side to side is not as smooth as stock, and it kinda likes to get stuck while taking it outta reverse.

Snapping & Jon I will be sending you a replacement piece for your AMS Shifters. We to have started experiencing a slight rattle on with the shifter. The culprit is the two metal washers on top. We have a remedy. I will drop them in the mail for you guys on Tuesday. The install of this piece just requires removal of the shift knob, nothing major.

The replacement piece is a plastic spacer made from Polycarbonate. It will not rattle like the metal washers do and raises the shift boot spacer the correct amount to meet the shift knob.

Jon, PM sent.

Jon experienced an unusual failure with his AMS Short Shifter. This is not very common [something I had not seen] and was covered 100% under AMS's warranty.

John sent his shifter back into us, which we refunded and forwarded onto AMS.

John, what are you thoughts on the TWM piece? It seems that you have to disassemble your factory shifter to properly install that piece.

I had my AMS short shifter installed at Z1 a few months ago and it works great. I've had no problems with it. I only wish that AMS made it a little shorter. The adjustabilty is a great feature though. Can always adjust it to your preference and comfort.

Thanks to Dustin and Z1!
