Default Wavetrac LSD

I heard someone talking about putting a wavetrac differential on a Z racecar. I hadn't heard of this before and it's hard to find info about it online. Surprisingly searching these forums for "wavetrac" didn't come up with any results. Does anyone know what the story is with this piece of equipment?

The 370Z is listed as an application on their website, but you can't order it directly in the U.S. You have to go through Nissan Motorsports apparently.

Does this mean the Nismo LSD (like this one for example) is just a rebranded Wavetrac? Or is this something different from the Nismo?

Any ideas how the Wavetrac compares to a clutch-type like the Carbonetics?

It basically appears to be a gear type differential similar to a Torsen, Quaife etc. with the major difference that it has the ability to account for loss of traction by a single wheel. Clutch type diffs also handle this situation just fine, however I imagine that this diff might be a little quieter and smoother on the street.

It is a USA made product. Should be able to order through one of their dealers or order online the "export" part. Nissan Motorsports USA might simply be acting as a reseller for the local market.

I called around and in speaking with Wavetrac they told me that Nissan Motorsports USA has the exclusive dell sell them. Nissan Motorsports then told me to contact my local dealer for the dealer can get the info on what the price is to order it from them. In talking with a local dealer they had to look into it some but with them quoting it being a little more than twice the price of what I can get a Quaife I am going to look into a Quaife instead.

Oh, and the Nismo LSD from my understanding is a clutch type diff. (and very aggresive for street use at that) and if that is the case it's a different diff. Wavetrac is it's own brand and there isn't anything else out there like them that I'm aware of that is rebranded under a different name.

PS - If you are talking the LSD that comes in the Nismo edition cars that is the same VLSD that came in the non-Nismo eidition cars if they 370's are like that of the 350 Nismos.

Just to be Clear Wavetrac prior to creating there own LSD is really a company known as Autotech, they were one of the main distributors for the Quifes in the U.S until they did a redesign and created there own ( way better) LSD. These can easily be adjusted with clutch plates for specific set ups and your preferences. I used this on my 700 HP Civic drag car I actaully had one of the first ones off production and there are not many other LSD's that you will find that have this quality of a build and there Customer Service is out of control good.
