CMAK includes everything you need,
Is the clutch worn out? Miles? The only reason the slave usually gives up is if the clutch is past its life span and at that time will bottom out the slave cylinder, Once it bottoms out it will over heat the bearing and kill it as there is constant pressure on it. You can pull the black boot off the side of the trans and look in with a flash light to see if the slave is pushed back all the way, If it is, the clutch is worn out.

Can you please clarify what you mean by the "HD CSC literally just gave out". Was there a loss of pressure ... loss of fluid? There are a number of us who have switched to the ZSpeed HD CSC who I suspect would be interested in knowing more about what happened. The HD CSC is generally regarded as being bullet-proof and a big improvement over the stock OEM CSC. Failure of the HD CSC is rare based on my understanding. If you could share more details ... mileage on the CSC, driving habits, clutch fluid change interval during the 3 years, etc., it would be helpful. Thanks!

Great to hear that the CMAK will resolve it all. I have approximately 37,000 miles on my southbend stage 2 clutch and flywheel which were replaced at the same time as the CMC and HD CSC. I haven't had a chance to look under the car myself. I will be looking to swap out the CSC with the CMAK kit, and likely a new clutch.

When I said it gave out, I meant there was an instantaneous loss in pressure. Fluid is now near empty. After swapping out to the HD CSC and a new CMC, I shortly encountered inconsistent pressure from my pedal after every few thousand miles of driving, and I would bleed the fluids, but similar symptoms would reoccur as miles accumulated on the fluid(especially during stop and go traffic in the heat). After contacting Joe, he informed me that it could be the CMC. His advice was 100% correct and greatly appreciated. I swapped it to the RJM CMC 8,000 miles ago with fresh RBF 600 fluid. It resolved all issues. Then two nights ago while driving on a cool night, the clutch went from full pressure to 10%, and shortly to the inability to shift into gears.

-37,000/ 3 years on the HD CSC
-Changed every 7,000 miles to Fresh Fluids because I didn't know why it was acting up until I consulted with Joe.
-Swapped out CMC at last 8,000 miles (everything was great)
-Drive in a lot of stop and go traffic, seldom redlining the car. Car is now at 100k miles.

Hope this helps. I'm happy Joe has created a new kit, and I'm very glad it's external so no more dropping the transmission for a while.

OK, thanks for your response. It's interesting since I have the same set-up, with the ZSpeed HD CSC and RJM CMC. No problems after 5K miles, but your post is a bit concerning. Have you confirmed that the HD CSC failed and not the RJM CMC? Also, did you install the ZSpeed insulated clutch hose? How about the RJM clutch pedal assembly?

No i installed the trans back in the car and the fork doesn't measure 1/2 or the 3/8 it maxes out front to back with ease it not touching the presure plate inside i guess you can say ???

Is my clutch worn out it seemed fine to me also it say in the directions to contact zspeed for adjusting if you not in range ?

Guess I had a right to be concerned!!! Took my Z out of winter storage last week. Clutch system was fully bled last July with Motul RBF600. Clutch reservoir was at the max mark and fluid was clear when the car was put in storage. Checked the fluid today after having driven 3 times for a total of about 150 miles (mainly highway) and noticed the fluid was a greyish colour. Fluid was still at the max mark in the reservoir and pedal pressure was normal. Decided to bleed the system. After running about 400 mL of new fluid through the system, the grey colour still remains. The pics show the fluid that was collected. (It appears blacker than it actually is in the pics). Car history is as follows:

Car has 12K miles on it. Clutch fluid has been changed at least twice per year. Have always used Motul RBF600. Always have been easy on the clutch.
Replaced the stock CSC with the Z Speed HD CSC 3 years ago when car had about 3K miles on it. Also installed the insulated clutch hose. (The CMC was changed at the same time as recommended by Z Speed).
Replaced the stock clutch pedal assembly with the RJM pedal assembly shortly after installing the HD CSC.
Replaced the stock CMC with the RJM HD CMC last year when car had about 10K miles on it.
All was well until today. Now I'm a bit stumped since I suspect that if the CMC had failed, I'd see a loss of pedal pressure … and if the CSC had failed, I'd see a loss of fluid. However, neither has occurred.

Anyone have any thoughts? I plan to contact Joe at Z Speed and Ryan at RJM to see what they think. Such a PITA.

When I used RBF600 my fluid would get dark weekly and I would change it accordingly. When I use Valvoline DOT 3/4 it would remain clear for 3-4 months before it started to show any signs of getting dark.

Understood. I've always used Motul RBF600 and I agree that it does gradually darken over time … but I've never seen anything like this. The colour is a dark grey with a very slight greenish hue. After leaving the fluid overnight, whatever's in it has remained fully suspended. There is no residue or any particles at the bottom of the container, which I think typically occurs if the CSC or CMC fails. The fluid is very smooth and slick on touch. There is no evidence of any grit whatsoever. Very strange! I'll try bleeding the system again in a couple of days.

Try a different brake fluid
