change it as in remove it and use something in its place?

The entire cupholder and three switches pop out of the center console as one piece. Easiest way is to stick your hand/fist inside the cupholder and pull it straight up and out. Then you can remove the switches from the backside.

So there's no screws that hold it in place, just clips?

That is correct. The cupholder should just pop out with a bit of easy force. The blanks/switches can be a bit more difficult. I use a couple of plastic panel removal tools to pry up the plastic lips that hold each button on two sides. Once you have the tabs on the button clear, you can just push the button out from the bottom.

Hard to hold the camera steady, sorry. Should give you an idea how easy it is.

simply out of curiosity, what would be the reasoning for removing any of those pieces?

Lots of reasons. I swapped out one of the blanks for a switch for my garage door opener for a while. Some people have switches for NOS, fog light, fuse cut, etc.

Yeah, if you have touring, you already have two out of the three used. There is an OEM fog light switch that goes in the middle blank. No one here buys the OEM switch though because it's stupid expensive compared to $1 switches you can find locally.

Those switches in my short video clip were $7 or $8 ea. I just had 3 blanks from the factory with the sport.

I always thought the middle one was earmarked for the switch when you got the optional 'passenger ejection seat'

Do those switches just fit right in there, or did you have to fab them?

The end switches have to have a bigger corner radius sanded on them, takes about 20 seconds each switch to do. I used 220 grit paper. Middle switch will not need any modifications at all.
