box cutter, exacto knife, pocket knife, Dremel, etc.

Plasmite 04-23-2014 03:03 PM

Anyone install these without trimming?

speedfreek 04-23-2014 03:30 PM

I didn't have to trim anything with my install.

JARblue 04-23-2014 03:50 PM

Some people are able to install them without any problems. Some people are able to install them without too much hassle by making a few minor adjustments per Z1's recommendations. And for some people, none of these work, and trimming the plastic ends up being the only option (Mr. Gale actually used heat to mold the plastic instead of just cutting it).

i mean i want it to fit perfectly but with 1mm raised height its not noticeable but I'm 100% its there so I'm confused, also the struts are making a weird noise when it adjusts itself fully should i use WD40 ?

GaleForce 04-23-2014 04:44 PM

Prior to ordering I knew of potential issues with the hood struts. I decided to take pictures and make a video of mine during the installation so I could verify any issues on my own car.

The hood bulge isn't much, some people probably wouldn't notice.

Here is the video,

I'm one of those "wouldn't notice" people. I guess I really haven't paid close enough attention to see if mine raises at all. Now I'm going to wonder.

mine looks exactly like that, i tried filing it down with nail file (don't ask the first thing that came to my mind) anyways i think i took like a hairline of plastic off so i mean the bulge isn't crazy but its not what i expected, but is there any chances of water coming through to the engine bay ?

Colnajoe 04-28-2014 11:20 PM

Are there any holes to be drilled, or did I miss that?

In the video you mention before and after modification. What modification did you make?

GaleForce 05-05-2014 06:18 AM

I heated the plastic cover to remould it, also shaved the plastic near the foam. I'll try to take a photo later.

Plasmite 05-05-2014 01:51 PM

I want to install these myself, but I am just as anal as Galeforce about lines...I really don't want to modify things that much
