You may want to download the FSM for your year and verify wire colors.

Hey!
I couldn't find 20 gauge wire anywhere! (home depot, lowes, advanced auto parts) Can I use 18 gauge? Thanks! 20 gauge wire soldering wire soldering gun and a couple of heat shrink tubes x-acto knife or wire stripper One SPST switch of your choice. I picked one that fit into the center console area where the control for the convertible top would go. The mounting hole dimension for this slot is 35mm x 20mm but the switch I purchased was in imperial (1.45in x 0.83in) and it worked just fine. |

Since it's signal-level, you could probably get away with 22 ga wire ... but I wouldn't recommend it.

I just did this, and it lights up the dash and resets when the car is shut off on my 16. I'll have to report back on how I like all nannies off when I autox next weekend. I used a mini toggle switch and kept it under the cupholder, partially for the cleanest look, and partially so I don't get a hair up my *** on a wet road and decide to go a little crazy and end up missing a tree because of it. I know I can crash anyways but turning off all the safeties to intentionally screw around is something I want hidden, I don't trust myself that much haha. Besides the cup holder is very easy to remove. |

Just put mine under the cup holder too.
My on-off switch came prewired with two black wires about 4" long - bought it from O'Reillys -saving me some install time. Works perfectly on my 2010! Good call beemerkid! |

Finally did mine last night after work. Been loosening up the cup holder for the last week. Yanked on it a little at a time and it finally popped. I have not had a road open up enough yet to really test it out. It is so nice not to have to hit the VDC Off button every time I get in the car. And... the switch pops in perfect and looks OEM.

Ive gotten to leaving VDC and yaw off all the time now, i just ignore the lights on the dash.
Dont ever drive in the rain or snow, so cant think of any reason or anytime I have needed to switch it back on! |

Well finally did this. My OCD wouldn't allow me to have just one switch and two blank panels, so I ordered three switches. Also my OCD needs to have the switches in the same direction, so the switch for the yaw sensor is backwards, as normally most accessories would not be on all the time:
I always de-insulate the terminals so I can solder after crimping. Just a habit from my Jeep I guess, so I re-insulate them with heat-shrink afterwards: At least there is lots of areas underneath to keep the wires out of the way: I think with three switches it looks OEM: |

Nice work Ohio! We received some unseasonable rain in CA last Friday and I was able to put this mod to the test. I found a couple of spots to pitch it sideways and keep my foot in it. I need a bunch of practice before I feel completely comfortable doing this. Throttle modulation is pretty tough because of the short wheelbase, it really wants to hang out if you give it too much gas, but no whip-back caused by the computer hitting the brakes. Finally, the car isn't trying to kill me any more. Note that this is combined with an aftermarket LSD.

DIY Yaw Sensor rocker switch
Can anyone confirm it's the green wire on 2014+....and for any electrically inclined would a reverse polarity switch be ok to use? I can source them locally and they look pretty oem. I just don't know if it would hurt anything

A DPDT switch (AKA reverse polarity switch) will work just fine but you'll only use one pole of the switch. A SPST switch will also do the job and should be cheaper.

Thanks for the reply I'm going to check for the cheaper regular two pole. But all they seem to show online is the reverse polarity. I would assume they would have both but figured I would check just incase Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
