The plasti-dip will peel off but after doing the VHT, I would never recommend doing plasti-dip on the lights straight from the can.

In order to put plasti-dip on the tails or headlights, it has to be thinned down and also its heavily advised to use CLEAR Plasti-dip with black tint, rather then black RDS DIP from the can..

But this DIY is for VHT NIGHTSHADES & like ZBrah mentioned it can be removed very easily..

GASOLINE is the NOT RECOMMENDED removal tool however. Yes it removes VHT, but there are many other chemicals that do the same thing and cause much less harm.

For example, with the use of chemical gloves, Naptha, XYLENE, Goo Gone, and Even WD40 can remove plastidip and VHT and can all be found at your local Home Depot, Lowes, or Ace...

You should be able to get the VHT off with some paint thinner, but you have to take the lights off. I just had to do this with my flasher lenses that I tried tinting and decided I didn't like, inside the headlights.

Doesn't plasti-dip have the smoke shade for tinting?

Yeah, Naptha & Xylene are both thinners and will work great!

Plasti-dip does have their "Smoke" line. But even if you use the smoke, you wont get a glossy finish. It'll still be matte black. You can of course make your own blend like I suggested in my last post and add Clear or Glossifier to the dip. That would make it look very similar to VHT. But the cost for buying the black dip, thinning it with glossifier, and then spraying it thru a gun or custom aerosol can.. it will cost double what the VHT costs and still wont have the same perfection in texture.

Either way, both work. Its about what look you are going for -

Nice! That's good news, cuz I'll be going for a more Matte look with mine. I have the Plasti-dip at home. Waiting for it to warm up some to spray the lights, rear diffuser, and front bumper air inlet. :) :tiphat:
