I just changed Oil and filter @ the dealer 670 Miles (Nissan Ester oil)

ok here's maybe a dumb question... are those shavings in that pan actually magnetic? Arent our engine blocks made of aluminum? (aluminum = non-magnetic)

just curious.

I got both Project KICs Oil Drain Bolt and the Filter Mag.

Not sure if that works, but just insurance.

I agree with doing the early oil change, here's my reason why:

at 50 miles, thats what the oil looked like in my other vehicle. all the dirty crud from the factory being cleaned out by the oil. the second oil change was clean as should be (blackish), but that first one scared me! looks like brains, hehe.

Just got my first oil change at 1000 miles. Regular oil of course. I figured it couldn't hurt. Besides, the dealership does the first oil change for free and I had it there to take care of a couple of other things, so it was convenient.
