DRL on with headlights MOD
5 Attachment(s)
New to this forum, and not sure how many times this has been shared but i thought i would share MY 30 min super simple DIY MOD to get your DRL to run all the time, even with your headlights on.
step by step, here you go: 1. locate the IPDM near the battery. you will need to remove the trim around the battery and the pass side trim cowl below the windshield. super simple, 2. slide the IPDM out and remove the cover. all the wires looks worse than what it really is. 3. the 2 wires that run the DRL are red and beige. they are next to each other. 4. unplug that connector from the IPDM and once removed, you will need to pop the cover off the back to remove the wires with the pins.(of you can simply cut the wire at the connector, but its best to remove if you have the patience). 5. once the red and beige wire are removed plug the connector back into the IPDM. 6. take the 2 wires and strip some insulation off and twist the wires together. 7. once together you will need about 6 inches of similar gauge wires to connect the 2 DRL wires to reach the open relay port in the IPDM. 8.on the end going to the relay opening, use a spade connector and connect to the 6 inch wire that will connect to the DRL wires. 9. as shown in the picture below, connect the spade end and plug into the open port of the IPDM relay port. its power on/off with the ign regardless of headlamp switch position. 10. tape wires and bundle with other wires for a neat looking set up.( not like the ones in my pix.lol) 11. reassemble. 12. DONE! should only take about 30 min or so. ENJOY! |
Thanks for the write-up. The beige wire you showed in the second pic doesn't seem to be the same wire you spliced with the red wire. Am I seeing it all wrong?
|
ah yes, that second pic is kinda misleading.
i had already removed the 2 wires that run the DRL from the IPDM. the circle of the empty ports was to show the spots where there 2 wires were after i pulled them from the IPDM. the lines do make it look like its the large beige wires, but its not that one. Kevin |
Omg love you for this! Doing it when I get home! +rep!

Did you use spade connectors in your third image? I drew green circles about what I'm referring to...also was the blue cover already over the beige wire? Thanks!
