How close can you get it before it binds?

@djtodd It feels like it's going up to where the splines meet and then stops. I've tried turning the shaft from the rear of the tranny but it wont budge when I'm that close but spins freely when separated. From what I've read on the internet it's supposed to slide in like butter if the splines are lined up so I think that's the problem. I dont know and I'm pissed this is the only thing that keeps me from finishing the car.

You don’t have starter installed still do you? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Yeah got the Zspeed EZ clutch kit that came with everything because CSC failed. New pilot ushing. Started is detached and tucked back.

Got it in. Just had to put on my favorite music and make a small jack adjustment and then shoved it in.

^^So like most things :), just keep pushing.. eventually it'll go in :ugh2:

Do I need to worry about the clutch and pressure plate alignment if I am just replacing the CSC?
|
Nope. Not if you’re leaving the pp in place.

Excellent guide to use when changing all these bits. Few things I did a little different,
1- crankshaft position sensor does not need to come out, 2- make some guide pins to help with re-install of the transmission. I used 4 M12-1.75 x 120 mm long bolts, cut the head off and put a slot to help take them out. Put in the guide pins in the motor making sure that the exposed parts are all same length. this helps in making sure that the trans is square to the motor at re-install. Once input shaft is splined in the clutch, replace the guide pins one by one with the bolts and slowly snug everything in. It all slides in like butter ;) |
