Resizing your filter magnet after oil cooler
1 Attachment(s)
I just put in a 25 row Stillen oil cooler.
I hate to just discard my filter mag so I hit it with a heat gun and stepped on it till it fit the new bigger oil filter. Totally Worked!! Attachment 63199 |
I would have bought it from you :icon17:
But on the other hand, that's damn fine MacGyvering  Well done sir :tiphat: |
Is it still pretty strongly magnified? Depending on how much you heat it you can cause them to lose their magnetism.

Curie temperature (point of magnitism loss) of rare earth magents is around 300-400 C (570-750 F), given that the plastic is not burt to a crisp the magnets didn't get anywhere near that temperature, you should be good to go

Didnt look that far into it, I just remember from University that a magnet can become useless after heated. Good to know :D Should of researched it a bit more
|
We use a lot of exotic magnets at work, so I have all the data on hand.
|
It's held on filter by magnetic force. No noticeable change. Should still work great!
|
I use hard drive magnets because I'm cheap, LOL
