I considered trying it that way but was nervous to snap a clip since the clips around the ignition are not as thick.. So i did it trips way. That's super easy but Trips way is a lot easier than it looks in pics. Takes about 10 min trips way. But i think im gonna try this way just for the heck of it.

I got a mini screwdriver under where you indicated and was trying to pop the button out but it wasn't budging and didn't wanna use too much force so I stopped. Can someone confirm that this works fine on a 2012 6mt?

Yes it does. The clips that hold the button onto the dash are located about 45 degrees from straight up/down or right/left (down right and up left from the center of the button). I'll post a pic in a sec where you can see the start button face, the clip that snaps into the dash, and the cutout in the dash opening for the clip. This is the best location for the removal tool (I prefer to use plastic door panel removal tools instead of metal screwdrivers).

I installed mine today using a metal screw driver and a microfiber towel so it won't leave any mark. Worked like a charm. 5 mins & I was done. Great write up.
