Default DIY: Alpine C117D Rear View Camera Install

This an easy install for those who have an Alpine head unit with direct connect rear camera capabilities. The head unit I installed is the Alpine INA-W900BT with (Bluetooth, Navigation, iPod, and Rear Camera). I wanted to do the cleanest install possible so I pretty much removed every panel inside my Z. I had everything removed including seats in about 1 1/2 hours (really not bad since this was my first time removing everything). All the panels pop out (a few screws).

I purchased this neat little license plate light with a built-in camera made for Nissan vehicles on eBay. I removed the camera that came with it since I purchased the Alpine C117D. This little light housing w/camera makes it look factory installed. See pictures below.

Tools/items used:

10 & 14 mm sockets
Phillips screwdriver
Wire connectors
Shrink wrap
Heat Gun
Lots of Zip Ties

Alpine C117D Camera

I used an Epoxy to mount Alpine camera in housing.

Camera and housing connected to factory bulb.

That's it ...Oh, I decided to install rear speakers while I had all the panels off. See pics below.

Haven't tried the eBay camera. I purchased the Alpine because it was a direct connect camera. Much easier to install.

This is genius. I was thinking about doing this, but I wasn't sure how easy it would be to remove the junk camera that comes with that ebay mount. Is it just glued in place?

Alrashwa, The eBay camera unscrews easily. I used a two part epoxy to mount the Alpine Rear Camera. I screwed the Alpine bracket to the camera then used the two part epoxy to attach the camera to the housing. Just let it set overnight. Once the epoxy sets, it's not going anywhere. It pretty much creates it's own plastic housing.

Thanks. Now i gotta figure out how im going to make this work. I literally did my install yesterday morning and i wired the camera through the little hole to the left of the light. So if i want to use this im going to have to either unplug the camera and re-route it (which was a major PITA to wire up to the headunit) or possibly just snip the camera wire and reconnect it. I dont think i want to tamper with the camera wire though...should be interesting.

Thanks again Stino.
