DIY of complete FOG LAMP install
I liked following this thread because it shows technique as well as imagination. Keeping it simple though, would it work as a back-up light?
My 2011 touring came with the red lens but the harness and plug are unconnected. Does anyone know if the box behind the lens is a dummy or does it already include the light itself? I would prefer a back-up light but I would do the brake light, just for fun, if all the parts are already there. |

I may have missed it in this thread but...
What bulb would I use for the 7443 dual filament socket if I wanted it to be a tail light and a brake light? What wattage make the fog as bright as the other tail and brake lights? Thanks.

So was the lamp already in the light as well, or did you have to buy a lamp to go in?

the oem fog light comes with a 7440 harness with 7440 bulb which is a single filament. thus, it has the always on look. you can modify a 7443 harness with 7443 bulb to fit inside of the oem fog light. the 7443 bulb has dual filament that has the low/high intensity for parking/brake features. i'm personally using a wal-mart or sylvania brand of bulb that cost me around $2. hope that cleared things up for you. |

I ordered the 7443 socket and I was just making sure that the standard bulb that fits it would look right. I am wiring it so that the foglight is on with the parking lights and gets brighter with the flip of a switch. That way it still accents the rear but also works as a fog light.

Are you talking about the fog light wiring that came with the car from the factory? That prewire doesn't really work for our US cars, because we don't have the fog-light control on our steering wheel stalk. I have the prewire too, but I haven't found out how to use it yet. I've been reading and following some threads, like this one, and the best bet is to run the harness that the z-store has or wire it into your tail lights depending on your preference.
