Does anybody know the gauge wire of the tail lights? Nissan uses a really fine wire gauge and I need to buy some extra wire the same gauge to clean up the installation

Hi OP seeing that father's day is coming up my kids asked me what to get me, toying with the rear fog light set up , can you elaborate were you hook up the lights to the brake and running lights, I want a direct connection no relays , would like to use it as a brake light regular light in simple terms, mechanically inclined but lack on the electronic stuff....thanks ( I've read most topics but they seem to jump around and not one really puts in in laymans terms cut green wire, tap green wire etc) thanks for your time

I just got done installing this exact one actually. I used OP's instructions on how to access the wiring and everything.

If it's the exact one I got, then the rear tail light will have 4 wires. Red, Green, White, and Black.

The 370z's tailight has 5 wires. Red, Green, a tan/peach color, a teal color, and a black color.

Splice the wires like this.

Red -> Red
Green -> Green
White -> Tan/Peach color.
Black -> Ground

I'm 99% sure its White -> Tan/peach. It's the wire right next to the red wire.

I did hit a snag with getting the 2 10mm bolt from the dummy light. What I ended up doing was using a drill and just drilled it at max speed for a few seconds. It'll end up melting the plastic a little bit and it'll come right off.

Thanks for posting this DIY Simota1. Finished install yesterday. Bought the fog light from Z1 Motorsports. It was simple to install and thank goodness my 2 10mm bolts on the dummy light didn't have locktight. Used the green wire on my passenger side taillight as a power source. Using as a brake light and works great!

Are you asking how to secure it? If so, I used zip ties to secure it to the rear bumper. Make sure it's far enough away from the exhuast. Don't want it to get hot and melt. LOL.

Thanks for the nice write up. I found that I didn't need to remove the left taillight to access the wires. Instead I used Posi-Tap, which is a great product. If for some reason you decide to change back simply unscrew the tap. The wire to tap is the green one on a '14.

I'd post a pic, but it's on my C drive not a URL.
Spoiler likes this.
