The paint looks so clean and smooth, how did you do it? Mine looks grainy and messy

i've been painting for a few years now but didn't have the time/room to spray theses pieces so i took the six pieced down the road to the local body shop and they sprayed them for $50.

So I've run into a few issues (not that they are bad, but they are issues) with this project that have triggered my OCD and decided I'd throw them out there so anyone considering this is aware or for anyone that has went through it knows I feel their pain.... and for those that have looked at this thread said to yourself “why would you do that?”....can crack a cold one and enjoy my pain...

so for a recap I decided to install Morimoto XBT halos on the upper and lower headlight shrouds (along with retrofitting a projector lens to the upper housing), Morimoto XBT demon eyes and Morimoto zoomerangs and since I had the front end off, wire my fog lights to a switch properly....

#1 Zoomerangs are awesome but they are crazy super bright! So I decided to wire them to a switch so I can control when they are on/off but wire them into the turn signals so they will operate as turn signals at all times...but for the white on/off I want that wired to a switch.

#2 Similar to above I want to be able to control the halos independently with a switch and not have to rely on the key fob being in the car/ignition and the car on in accessory mode or any mode that would require that, so wire them to a switch as well and they will operate as turn signals at all times.

To provide for the above I've decided, the best way to do so is to build a separate relay/fuse block to control the the fog lights/halos/Zoomerangs independently of the car being powered on....as long as the switch is pushed on for the fog/halo/zoom it will be on.

In testing everything has proven out.....

so the last week has been spent hooking up everything the way I want it to work and proving it out. I stared all the final wiring this weekend and hope to be done by Monday.

Here are a few pics.....

where to punch through the firewall into the cabin:

secondary to the pic above, where the wire come thru on the floor:
IMG_8331 (Large).JPG

Switch wires all soldered and shrink-wrapped.... soldering is so satisfying
IMG_8332 (Large).JPG
Fuse block built to take power in from the battery, thru the fuse to the relay to provide power between the switch and the accessory (fog/halo/zoom)
IMG_8329 (Large).JPG
switches after being installed in the blanks and about to be put together......Thanks Nissan!

That is some crazy wiring. You are doing exactly the same thing I'm doing, with the same exact components and at the same time too. But the fuse box is one step ahead of me.

Finished mine today. Noticed that my turn signals are going super fast now, some people say it is because the resistance on the new turn signal LEDs is lower than OEM.

Does any one have a link to turn signal LED bulbs that are low profile and same resistance as OEM?

Looks great man!

as far as low profile hereare the ones i purchased as I ran into the same issue. Your not gonna find a halogen that matches the color so your going to need to wire in a set of resistors with the led bulbs to stop the hyper flash. Bottom line is with all the work you've already done, wiring in the resistors will be a walk in the park.

low profile turn signals:

resistors:
if you google a 50w 60ohm resistor you will find tons. That's what i have used and they work, im sure there are other options out there.

Ended using load resistors as suggested. I just really didn't want to take that bumper off again, but luckily I was able to do it without taking it off. It's working great now.

Also here is the full album of pictures I took during the whole project, for anyone interested. Several pictures included:

Ya that is an issue and after sitting in the sun a little to much i got some melting/warping of the paint just below the projector. If i were to move it back a little more i think i could of prevented it. I though of wrapped the plastic just under it with either a clear piece or matching color to get around it. May do so if i take them apart again, or just wrap the whole damn thing.

Either way the headlight themselves are functioning grate, minus the morimoto demon eyes. I either missed the opening in the housing just by a few mm or the opening does not let enough light through.

If anyone wired a switch to manually turn them on or off via switch inside the cabin, let me know how and where you ran the +/- line to whereever inside the cabin.

Quick question guys, is it okay to tap the Z-boomerang into the headlight leveler? for it to act as a DRl?

Basically a manual knob or automated motor that's levels the cars headlights to a desired angle. I cant find any pics online.

Its the two knobs at the top above the big gray cap, top left is silver the top right is covered by a black cage looking thing I believe.

Yeah but I don't think that's what he's talking about, he says he wants to tap the Zoomerangs into the headlight levelers???? Doesn't make sense to me
