Thank you to everyone that contributed to this DIY for giving me the inspiration to do the one mod I have wanted for the longest time! I decided to color match the housing to the car and had the trim done with carbon fiber hydrographics

Looks great man!!! Please let us know how the graphics hold up under the heat. When i wrapped mine with 3M there was some dout if it would hold up under the heat. So far not issues with the 3M :tiphat: .

hmm well this sucks, its been 2.5 months and 1/3 of the leds on the passenger side 90mm halo have stopped working. I am expecting it to stop working all together soon. At this point i think i got a defective halo, since the other 3 halos are working just fine. BUt we will see how long they last as well. Anyone have any ideas on what could cause this? Either way im not opening these headlights again any time soon.

HArturo319 02-03-2013 02:23 AM

I was afraid that would happen. LEDS can be unreliable a lot of the time.

That stinks to hear, I think you will find it is a bad halo. My wifes are 3 years old almost and still perfect.

Man sorry to here that.. If you don't mind me asking what type of halo's were they..

Sounds like the soldered connect has been broken.. Are they sealed in a plastic case like the picture on the left or are they Like XB's and sealed in resin in the picture on the right?

MrSir 02-03-2013 10:16 AM

They are the Morimoto xb in amber color. This sucks badly i realy dont want to open the headlight again. I most likely will drive it like this till it dies out and my car looks like a winking pirate

Thanks for the response.. You are the first  I have herd of that this has happened to. Man that sucks, it hard as hell getting them open in the cold too.

If you call them latter when your ready to work the warranty on them; please let us know who it goes.

Joe

Well getting them open isnt that bad but unglueing the apoxi without braking anything. Ye ill have to see how the warranty works. They are suppose to have pretty good one.

Nut_N_Much 02-06-2013 05:11 PM

Man, I had a return customer that had one light with moisture in it. He parks his car outside.. I don't recommend anyone relies on only re-using stock sealant.

The guy that says "All you gotta do is push it back in the crack" is taking risk. Thank god the customer was driving a NISMO, only took 15min to get the bumper off and warm up the light..

If you do this stuff for other people always use new sealant: OCI Butyl Rubber Glue - Accessories from The Retrofit Source Inc
$15.00 is good money for piece of mind...

could possibly be how you put it in. It says to be extremely careful and not put too much pressure in one spot when squeezing it in. The gel that coats the led's can be punctured easily and break off in chunks.

Naah its not that, i made sure i was extremely careful how i put them in. Even pressure all around. Plus i dont know if you've seen these things they are literately the exact size of the main projector piece. They fit in it like a glove. Plus you can clearly see that the gel coating is still intact and in place. Anyways i sent TRS an email with what has happened, i will keep you guys updated on the whole warranty claim and how cooperative they are.
