DIY - Brake Cooling Duct Installation
It's 4th day in my project and I figured I'd post some pictures to share with you all. I don't intend to write much. Hopefully pictures represent a thousand words. Enjoy!

wow, nice work. have you done temperature measurements yet?
cause there was a guy that tracks his car that did a similar mod and ended up getting higher temps than without the ducting hose.... |

Really no I haven't yet but I wonder how that could be the case I will be tracking at Laguna July I'll bring a thermal laser scanner and I'll post up some readings.

I have to say I am a little disappointed I could not have the whole ducting hose forcing most of the air towards the center of the rotor rather than to the outside of one side of the rotor. But I can't still see how someone got higher temperature with the duct kit. There's not a lot if any ducting any into cooling the rotors oem. The dust shield has a small flange that ducts a little air in front but the caliper is covering most of the flow.

i think a straight port from the fang hole to the front of the suspension arm + vent on fenders (CS or someone made them) could suction the air out from the wheelwell at speed to provide circulation.

There could be a possibility the rotor that he did the temp test wore down between the mods therefore the rotor has less material to dissipate heat and the brake duct isnt compensating enough. After all the brake duct is only able to cool the rotor. If there's less material it'll prolly heat up much more and less material for air to cool down. I also wonder if he drove it harder, or it's the same track. Honestly, I don't know how much it's gonna reduce the temp, it's only functional when the car is moving.

yah, like measuring IAT's, its going to be difficult to nail down a before/after temp as there are so many variables.

I was hoping for that too for us guys with FI with intercooler plumbing and whatnot getting in the way of the typical through-the-fangs air inlet

Have people been hitting ice mode yet from tracking? For me I'm totally doing this as a preventative thing but truth be told unless a proper temperature test is done to the 370z braking system I can't say how "bad" our stock one holds up at the tracks. Btw, I read the car and driver magazine article, they don't seem to like the 370z too much. Also that type of aggressive braking in their follow up test wouldn't allow for any car to survive.
