Default Help with fog light installation, info not on diys

I just recently received my rear fog light in the mail. I have it installed in place and tried to hook it up to the wire that was already hanging there. What is that wire for? I know its suppose to hook up to the fog light but I haven't seen reference to that connector at all in any of the fog light diys. Is there any way I can use that connection and manipulate some wiring to make it work with the parking lights? please help and don't just refer me to another diy of a fog light installation, i have looked at them all.

That plug is for a combination switch (for LHD) so you would turn it on with your headlight switch.

The best way to tie them into the parking lights is to tap into them behind the tail lights, thats what most of us did.

I was following the DIY of complete FOG LAMP install on the stickys and I have the light in and all the panels off and the tail light completely out. The only problem is I am having a hard time seeing why I took out the tailight when it jumps straight to a picture of wiring in the license plate lights? what is going on there? do I need to go buy some other wires as well?

All you need to do is run 1 wire from the + parking light(on the tailight)to the + of the fog light and 1 wire on the fog light to ground thats it.

You can tie into the tag light if it is easier for you is really doesn't matter as long as the + wire going to the fog light has power when the parking lights and headlight are on.

Good luck

If you are talking about the tag wires then yes Red to + of fog light and Black to - of fog light as far as size 12-18 ga. same as the tag wires and you should be good to go.

so I did what you said and ran a wire to connect black to black and red to red from the fog light to the left rear tail light. The light comes on but it will not come on when my lights are set to auto. Is this right? I was hoping they would stay on with my lights on auto..

If you are going to tie into the parking light circuit @ the taillight then the red from the fog light+ will go to the Orange wire in the taillight wiring harness.

Check the Orange wire with a test light to be sure it lights up the test light when you turn on the parking lamps.

I tried it with the orange to the red and the black to black and now the fog lamp won't work at all
